JAC History
The Democratic Republic of the Congo is located in Central Africa. It has been devastated by war for more than a decade. Around 8 million people have been killed apart from r***d women and abused children. Justice became a must and advocacy being the first change. So, Justice and Advocacy for the Congo “JAC” was created. This is a US Non-Profit Organization set up by Congolese of di
aspora for civic educational purposes. Seven million of Congolese live abroad and around four million live in North America. This great population needed to be informed, mobilized and trained as of how to unify the message about their native Congo. JAC intends to professionally inform and train locally Congolese to a clear understanding of their respective immigrant-country legislative regulations and requirements. For instance, how the US law on conflict mineral would be profitable to all? How leaning on diversity can protect unity, make peace and stop division. Knowledge is a generator of hope and good standard of life to mankind. JAC Structures
JAC is divided into 3 main functional areas:
GOVERNANCE
JAC is governed by 7 Board of directors. Not paid, they receive compensation according to JAC Bylaws. The board is accountable for JAC policies, regulations and vision. It is given powers by the articles of Incorporation. Led by a Chairman, it is yet divided into 6 committees to carry out JAC’s operations and missions. ADMINISTRATION
It oversees the all programs. It is led by an Executive Director to liaise with the board and carry out their instructions into the field. He centralizes and executes all JAC activities
PROGRAMS
JAC is founded to mobilize and carry out information, education & advocate’s training. So, it is structured into various programs to achieve the assigned goals. Each program has its own Department Head [i.e. Assistant Director] such as: Fund raising, operations, HR, volunteer coordinator, marketing, pub & planning. They head their report to the Executive Director. MEMBERSHIP
JAC has temporary members, who are just trained for specific purposes in a limited timing, sanctioned by a certificate of completion to become independent advocates.
