In her words. 💜

When Heather was diagnosed, she and her family didn't know where to turn. She had just changed jobs and taken a big pay cut to spend more time with her kids, and after reaching out for help elsewhere, she kept hearing the same thing: she made too much, or had the wrong diagnosis.

Then a friend connected her to the Helene Foundation.

We helped Heather with clothing gift cards for her kids' school clothes, grocery gift cards that freed up money for bills, and gas cards to get to and from her chemo treatments. For six months, through the scary and uncertain days, she had support.

Heather is now in remission. And in her words, even that short season of support changed everything.

We're so honored she shared her story with us. 💜

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. 🎀💜

For so many of the moms in the Helene Foundation family, this fight is deeply personal. Breast cancer is one of the most common diagnoses among the mothers we serve, and behind every diagnosis is a woman holding her family together while fighting for her life.

This month, we honor them. The ones in treatment right now. The survivors. The ones we've lost. And the families walking every step alongside them.

At the Helene Foundation, we're here for mothers facing every kind of cancer, offering immediate support so they can focus on healing while we help carry the rest.

To every mom in the fight this month: we see you, and we're right here beside you. 💜

Look at this incredible act of generosity! 💜

This weekend, students from Families4Families ran a food collection to support local Helene Foundation families, and the turnout was amazing.

A huge thank you to Cole and Sam, the founders and presidents of the club (and now seniors!), for their leadership and their big hearts. The food they gathered was delivered straight to families in our community navigating a mom's cancer diagnosis.

When young people choose to show up for others like this, it gives us so much hope. 💜

Thank you, Families4Families. You made a real difference this weekend.

Here's something we're proud of. 💜

A cancer diagnosis isn't a one-time event. It's months of treatments, appointments, hard days and heavy decisions.

So we stay. We walk alongside each family for six months, through the heart of the crisis, adjusting our support as their needs change along the way.

Because a mom fighting cancer doesn't just need help on one day. She needs to know someone is still there next month, and the month after that.

That's what being really means: showing up, and staying. 💜

When a mom joins the Helene Foundation family, one of the first things we send is a small welcome gift: a "Be Brave and Be Strong" bracelet. 💜

It's a little thing. But it's meant to be a reminder she can carry with her - that she is strong, that she is brave, and that she is not facing this alone.

Recently, one of our moms shared what that bracelet has meant to her through the hardest, most uncertain days of her fight. Her words are a beautiful reminder of why the small gestures matter just as much as the big ones.

To every mom carrying more than anyone should have to: we see you, and we're right here beside you. 💜

Meet Eileen 💜

Eileen is a stay-at-home mom whose whole world revolved around her three boys, until a cancer diagnosis turned everything upside down.

In her words, her world got rocked. Suddenly she was facing the daily fight against cancer while still trying to be there for her family. That's when the Helene Foundation stepped in, taking the weight of the cooking, the cleaning and the help with schoolwork off her shoulders, and even answering a worry that had been weighing on her heart: who would care for her four-year-old.

Because of that support, Eileen was able to do something cancer rarely allows: take care of herself.

But here's what stayed with us most. When Eileen talks about the Helene Foundation, she says, "You can feel that somebody cares about you."

That's the heart of everything we do. 💜
