Lawmakers announced the raises. They didn’t announce the job cuts.
Both the House and Senate proposed cutting vacant positions across state government. If those cuts are how the raises get paid for, that’s not a savings — it’s making permanent the staffing shortages that have crushed state employees for years.
Our members are already doing the work of those empty positions. Eliminating them doesn’t lighten the load. It makes it permanent.
And retirees just got their 9th year without a real COLA.

Great SEANC Lobby Day! We were successful in our mission to have sincere conversations with legislators! No extra entertainment but great group of state employees and retirees showing up to do some real advocacy work. We thank every legislator who took time to have conversations and acknowledge issues and concerns directly from working people and retirees.

Thank you for your time with our folks Representative Pare!

Thank you for your time with our folks Representative Pare!

District 41 members had the opportunity to speak with Wake County Representative Erin Pare today regarding the effect of low wages. We asked questions regarding the budget, raises, COLA, and if it would be retroactive. Want to hear the answers? Join us for our district meeting on June 8th.
