Fifteen years ago, when Help One Now was just finding its footing, Lamar came to Chris and said he wanted to help. That moment marked the beginning of one of the most meaningful partnerships in our organization's history.

Lamar is faithful, sharp, and genuinely servant-hearted — and the impact he and his wife Jill have had on Help One Now is immeasurable. He has been one of the foundational building blocks of everything we have built together.

Our mission remains clear: partner with high-capacity leaders, empower families, and see communities transformed. With Lamar stepping into this role, we are more confident than ever in the road ahead.

This is it.

15 years ago, we sat around a campfire in Gunchire, Ethiopia, and said yes to a community in crisis. Children were working in fields to survive. Families were struggling. Abandonment was heartbreakingly common.

So we got to work - caring for kids, strengthening families, supporting local adoption and reunification, and launching our business program that put the community on a path to real stability.

And then a few years ago, Aschalew called us with news we'll never forget.

There are no longer children being abandoned in this community.

15 years of faithful work. And now the need has changed.

Today we're launching the Love Hope 2026 campaign to build a preschool in Gunchire, Ethiopia.

We love when our partners get to step outside their own context and learn from each other — and that’s exactly what’s happening right now. Ydekel, our family business program manager in the Dominican Republic, is on the ground in Peru! Exchanging wisdom, building friendship, and growing together with our partners there.

This is one of our favorite things about this work — our partners aren’t siloed. They’re connected, learning from one another, and collectively empowering communities around the world. 🌎 Together we build!
