Thank you Senator Tillis and Senator Budd for protecting clean water funding!

Senators Ted Budd and Thom Tillis voted YES on the spending package that maintains funding for clean water infrastructure.

This vote helps North Carolina communities:

Upgrade aging water systems
Prevent sewage overflows
Keep our rivers, lakes, and beaches clean from harmful bacteria

Yet, for many community members who want to swim in the Outer Banks, contamination remains a real concern. In 2025, 224 North Carolina beaches were tested for f***l indicator bacteria, and 50% of these tested locations indicated unsafe levels of f***l indicator bacteria on at least one testing day, according to a report by Environment North Carolina Research & Policy Center.

Clean water isn’t a luxury–it’s a necessity for healthy families and strong communities. By keeping our beaches, lakes, and rivers safe for swimming, these investments protect our public health and our quality of life.

Thank you for championing clean water in North Carolina.

The Rocky Mount Telegram recently published a letter we wrote asking Representative Don Davis to vote NO on energy efficiency rollbacks that may come up for a vote in the House of Representatives this month.

Energy efficiency saves energy, saves money and reduces pollution to save lives.

Stories like "Is Earth really getting too hot for people to survive?" remind North Carolinians that the cleanest and cheapest energy is the energy we never need to use. But

We hope Representative Don Davis votes NO on energy efficiency rollbacks. Read more in the Reflector.

We’re grateful for all who strive together to put our state, country, and our world on a greener, healthier, more sustainable path. Together in 2025, we made progress on these four fronts: wildlife crossings, clean water, clean energy, plastic pellets, as well as others.

Our year-in-review

North Carolina is well known for growing evergreen trees used in homes all over the state, and nation, to celebrate the holidays. But what are these trees like in their natural environment?

Unfortunately, protections for the forests where the Fraser Fir grow are under threat. We need to conserve what is left of the acres of wild forest in the Appalachian Mountains which the Fraser Fir calls home.
