An Inclusive Congregation of Followers of the Teachings of Jesus Christ. Throughout our entire history, inclusion has been, and continues to be, a hallmark and a strength of St. As a congregation we fully believe and embrace God’s call to diversity. For as God reminds us through the Prophet Isaiah: “Even those I will bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer. Their burn

t offerings and their sacrifices will be acceptable on my altar; for my house shall be called a house of prayer for all the peoples.” (Isaiah 56:7).

🌈✨ FACTS YOU MAY NOT KNOW ABOUT PRIDE ✨🌈
From St. John’s MCC

Celebrate. Rejoice. Give thanks.

Think you know Pride? Here are some powerful and surprising facts you may not know:

💡 The original Pride flag had 8 colors, each with a specific meaning like life, healing, and sunlight.

💡 Pride Month is celebrated in June to honor the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in New York City.

💡 The first Pride march was called the Christopher Street Liberation Day March in 1970.

💡 The pink triangle, once used to identify gay men during the Holocaust, has been reclaimed as a symbol of strength and remembrance.

💡 The Progress Pride Flag includes additional colors to represent marginalized communities and transgender individuals.

💡 Pride isn’t just a celebration—it’s also a reminder that the fight for equality and acceptance continues.

💡 Today, Pride is celebrated in countries all around the world, each with its own unique culture and expression.

💬 At St. John’s MCC, we believe in building relationships, not religion.
We celebrate love, inclusion, and community—just as you are.

🌈 Be proud. Be visible. Be you.

🌈 Happy Pride Month from St. John’s MCC 🌈

Celebrate. Rejoice. Give thanks.

This Pride Month, we celebrate the beauty of living authentically and the courage it takes to be who you are. We rejoice in the love, strength, and resilience of the LGBTQ+ community. And we give thanks to those who came before us—the trailblazers who stood up, spoke out, and made a way for equality and inclusion.

At St. John’s MCC, we believe in building relationships, not religion. We are a community rooted in love, acceptance, and service—welcoming all just as they are.

As we honor the past and embrace the future, let us continue to uplift one another, stand in unity, and share God’s love with everyone we meet.

Be proud. Be visible. Be kind. Because of them, we can. 🌈

Do you know the meaning of the pride flag colors?

The most widely recognized pride rainbow is the 6-color Pride Flag, designed by Gilbert Baker and later simplified into six stripes.

From top to bottom, the colors are:

* Red — Life
* Orange — Healing
* Yellow — Sunlight
* Green — Nature
* Blue — Harmony (sometimes described as serenity or peace)
* Violet (Purple) — Spirit

The original 1978 version actually had 8 colors, each with a specific meaning:

* Hot Pink — Sexuality
* Red — Life
* Orange — Healing
* Yellow — Sunlight
* Green — Nature
* Turquoise — Magic/Art
* Indigo — Serenity/Harmony
* Violet — Spirit

Today we have a new Progress Pride Flag. Do you know the meaning of the colors?

The Progress Pride Flag builds on the traditional rainbow flag by adding a chevron (arrow shape) on the left side.

Rainbow stripes

* Red — Life
* Orange — Healing
* Yellow — Sunlight
* Green — Nature
* Blue — Harmony/Serenity
* Violet — Spirit

Chevron colors

* Light Blue, Pink, and White — Represent the Transgender Pride Flag and transgender, nonbinary, and gender-diverse people.
* Brown and Black — Represent LGBTQ+ people of color and acknowledge communities affected by racism and discrimination. The black stripe has also been used to honor those lost to HIV/AIDS and those living with HIV.

Intersex-inclusive version

A newer version, the Intersex-Inclusive Progress Pride Flag, adds:

* Yellow triangle with a purple circle — Represents intersex people. The yellow and purple were chosen because they are colors traditionally not associated exclusively with either male or female gender categories.

The forward-pointing chevron is intended to symbolize movement, progress, and the need to continue working toward inclusion and equality. 🌈
