Back with one of our favorite volunteer teams!

On Wednesday, we spent another afternoon with Cisco’s Global Supply Chain team writing handwritten notes to survivors and cutting fabric for future survivor tote bags.

We always love getting to work with this group, and we’re so thankful they continue to show up for Layers of Dignity and the survivors we serve!

Cozy fall vibes in the Layers of Dignity office! 🍂

Our shelves are stocked with sweatshirts and sweatpants for our survivor totes, and we received some new goodies from our Amazon registry, too! Fuzzy socks, wide-tooth combs, hand sanitizers, tote bags, and body wipes are all headed into our survivor totes.

A big thank you to Kirsten for sending these our way! Every donation helps us keep our totes stocked with the essentials and little comforts we provide to survivors.

It’s fuzzy sock season! 🧦🍂

Every Layers of Dignity survivor tote includes a new pair of fuzzy socks, and we need your help keeping them stocked!

From October 15 through November 30, we’re collecting fuzzy socks at three local businesses:

* Bright Side Books & W**e in Raleigh
* State Farm in Clayton
* Daughters Coffee & Books in Durham

What we’re looking for: Brand new, adult-sized fuzzy socks in dark or neutral colors (no bright colors please!)

Donations can be dropped off during each business’s regular hours. Addresses are included in the graphic!

A big thank you to our collection sites for helping us keep survivors cozy and comfortable. 💗

A heat stamp leaves a permanent mark — sharp, clean, unmistakable. So does every tote we hand out. ✨ One presses design into fabric. The other presses dignity into a life that needed to feel seen. Both leave something behind that doesn’t fade.

From blank fabric to finished bag, our volunteers are hand-making tote bags, start to finish, for survivors supported by Layers of Dignity.

Every stitch is a reminder that someone cares. These totes go directly into the hands of survivors, offering a small piece of comfort and dignity during an incredibly hard time.

We’re gearing up to need more hands for projects like this one. More information on volunteering is coming soon, so stay tuned!

We spent this morning with Activate Good for their 9/11 Day of Service & Remembrance, inviting volunteers to write letters to survivors that will be included in our totes.

We had people dropping in steadily throughout the morning, and in just under 90 minutes, *106* letters were written.

We also got to share the room with Habitat for Humanity Greater Raleigh, which made for such a fun morning of service.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our table and took a few minutes to write something kind for a survivor. We’ll be packing these letters into totes very soon💛

Founders, sisters, and delivery team! Hayley and Lara made the trip to Winston-Salem to restock survivor totes at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center.

Eight years into Layers of Dignity, we’re incredibly grateful to still be making deliveries like this across North Carolina. None of it would be possible without the donors, volunteers, board members, and community partners who continue to show up for survivors. Thank you!

Today we celebrate National Nonprofit Day, and we’re using it to talk about why organizations like Layers of Dignity exist in the first place.

Survivors of sexual assault deserve advocates, resources, and a community that believes them. That work doesn’t run on good intentions alone. It runs on people who choose to give, whether that’s time, dollars, or simply sharing our mission with someone who needs to hear it.

If you’ve been meaning to support us, today’s a good day to start. Every donation helps us keep showing up for the people who need it most.
