ENC-NOBLE congratulates our own Vice President, Stephanie R. Mardis on her selection as the new Chief of Police for the Durham Police Department!

Chief Mardis brings more than 24 years of law enforcement experience to this position, currently serving as Assistant Chief with the Greensboro Police Department.

ENC-NOBLE congratulates our outgoing National President, Renee Hall, the Executive Board, and the National staff on an outstanding 50th Annual Training Conference and 50th Anniversary Celebration in Dallas! The conference theme, “Forged in Struggle, Empowered by Strength, Defining Our Future,” celebrated NOBLE’s rich legacy while inspiring its future.

Twenty-four (24) ENC-NOBLE members attended the conference, including first-time attendees Fabienne Pierre (State Highway Patrol), Derwin Lamb (Apex Police Department), Ed Ross (Cary Police Department),Rebe Mosley (Wake County Sheriff’s Office) and Kendra Holmes (Greensboro Police Department). Throughout the conference, our members participated in dynamic training sessions, engaged in meaningful dialogue, and strengthened professional relationships through valuable networking opportunities.

We also extend our congratulations to incoming National President Mitchell Davis and Second Vice President Robert Ford. We look forward to continuing NOBLE’s mission and supporting the organization under their leadership.

ENC-NOBLE was proud to participate in Raleigh Hoop Nights on Friday, July 10, at Marsh Creek Community Center in Raleigh. Raleigh Hoop Nights supports one of Raleigh Police Chief Rico Boyce’s strategic priorities—community engagement—which also aligns with ENC-NOBLE’s mission and priorities.

This summer-long program, held on Friday evenings at community centers throughout Raleigh, is designed to foster positive, trusting relationships between local youth and law enforcement officers in a safe, welcoming, and fun environment.

As a community partner, ENC-NOBLE was honored to support the event by providing snacks for the youth, engaging them in meaningful conversations, and even stepping onto the court to showcase a few basketball skills alongside them. We remain committed to strengthening relationships, creating positive connections, and expanding opportunities that empower our youth and strengthen our communities.

In celebration of NOBLE’s 50th Anniversary and Juneteenth, the Eastern NC Chapter of NOBLE hosted its National Day of Service with the Winston-Salem Police Department on June 17, 2026, focusing on youth engagement.

Twelve youth, ages 13–16, from the Salvation Army Ken Carlson Red Shield Youth Center participated in open discussions about careers, leadership, mentoring, education, and goal-setting with four ENC-NOBLE law enforcement executives. The youth researched the panelists beforehand and asked insightful questions throughout the session.

The program included a Juneteenth history presentation by the youth, meaningful conversations about leadership and personal growth, and networking with ENC-NOBLE members, Winston-Salem PD officers and interns, and interns from the U.S. Marshals Service.

The day concluded with reflections from the youth and the presentation of Certificates of Appreciation. The event highlighted ENC-NOBLE’s ongoing commitment to mentoring, educating, and empowering young people to reach their full potential. NOBLE ❤️🖤💚

We cordially invite NOBLE- Eastern North Carolina Chapter members to join in celebrating Larry D. Watkins, Jr.’s promotion to Lieutenant at the Durham County Sheriff’s Office, honoring his 31 years of distinguished public safety service.

As supervisor of the School Resource Officer Division, he cultivates safe learning environments and fosters meaningful relationships between law enforcement and the community.

Lieutenant Watkins holds a degree in Criminal Justice and is highly regarded for his exemplary leadership, professionalism, and dedication to public service.

June is Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month, a time dedicated to dispelling the stigma that discourages men from seeking help, and highlighting how depression and stress manifest in men. The most proactive step you can take is to conduct a self-assessment or check in on the men in your life and normalize seeking support.
