Arts at St. Luke’s will present "All Arcus!"—an organ recital by David Arcus, featuring original compositions on Sunday, September 14th at 4 p.m. St. Luke’s Episcopal Church is located at 1737 Hillandale Road, Durham.

David will perform original compositions written over the course of his
professional music career. The recital will include the world premiere of music composed in 2025, Prologue, and the complete performance of his Symphony No. 1 for Solo Grand Organ, composed in 1998.

Formerly organist at Duke Chapel, David Arcus was appointed organist at St. Luke’s in April of 2024 and now serves as St. Luke’s Director of Music. His career spans activities as a recitalist, conductor, composer, teacher, and clinician. His commercially released recording, Organs of Duke Chapel, is on the Gothic Label.

A reception will follow the recital. This event is free and open to the public. Donations to benefit St. Luke’s music program are welcome.

Our first Arts at St. Luke's event of the 2025/26 season is almost here! David Arcus is St. Luke's Music Director and Organist, offering a recital entitled, "All Arcus!", featuring his own works.

This will be an excellent concert! We hope you can make plans to attend!

This will be an excellent concert! We hope you can make plans to attend!

Join us this September as we dedicate our magnificent new Richards and Fowkes organ newly installed in 2024. World renowned concert organist Nathan Laube will offer two identical dedicatory concerts that are free and open to the community to celebrate the newly installed instrument. There will be a chance to meet the organ builders as well as see the instrument "up close" after the concerts. Each concert is approximately an hour long and there will be a chance for us to greet you at a reception. Come hear the new voice of St. Stephen's!

Tickets are free!

A note from our friend and AGO member, Kevin Kerstetter:

Please join us for Choral Evensong on Sunday, June 22 at 5 p.m. This will be the choir’s final Evensong before next month's singing tour to the UK, where the choir will sing five services at St. Mary’s Episcopal Cathedral in Edinburgh, Scotland and two at Carlisle Cathedral in England.

The choir will include singers from St. Michael’s Raleigh, St. Paul’s Beaufort (Matt Hill, Director of Music), and the Schola Cantorum of the Episcopal Diocese of East Carolina, with tour organist Stephen Gourley.

Or, if you enjoy a road trip, the choir will sing Evensong on Sunday, June 15 at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Kinston.

All best,

Kevin Kerstetter
