We've all done it--dropped a some food, declared "5-second rule!" and popped it in our mouth. But, is it true?
Scientists have done the research, and it doesn't matter how fast you are, bacteria can still adhere to food as soon as it touches the ground. It doesn't matter how clean the floor looks. Faster is better, but it's not perfect.

Happy first day of winter. We never know in NC if it will feel like winter or not. Regardless of the weather, farmers implement practices to keep their animals healthy and at an appropriate temperature. Here's some ways they do this in the cold:

❄️Heat lamps and heat pads are utilized for some animals in barns, especially babies.
❄️Laying straw down for warmth.
❄️Proper nutrition. Snow on a cow's back is a sign that they are retaining heat and are warm.
❄️Climate controlled barns are often used to keep animals comfortable.

A bloody steak doesn't exist. The red juices you see from a rarer steak are water and a protein called myoglobin, which distributes oxygen to the muscles.
The water (and myoglobin) from a well-done steak have evaporated, leaving a dryer piece of meat.
This goes for any cut of beef.

The holidays often bring a lot of leftovers. They are safe to eat for 3-4 days...unless you've reheated them. If you have reheated them to a proper temperature, they are safe for another 3-4 days. Reheating starts the clock back over. 🤯
