JUNE IS HERE and graduation is just around the corner!

This year, 15 incredible seniors will graduate from high school while also navigating life in the custody of the Wake County Foster Care System. Their journeys have not been easy, and they deserve to be celebrated in a big way.

We need your help to make that happen.

This week, we celebrated 32 new GALs as they were sworn in to faithfully and honestly advocate for the children and teens in custody of Wake County and be their voice as they navigate the court system. We are so grateful this group answered the call and said “yes” this serving vulnerable children.

April is GAL appreciation month!

Guardian ad Litem’s play a critical role in the lives of kids in foster care and we are so grateful for the work they do to serve the children and teens in Wake Co!

These volunteers pour time, heart, and energy into standing up for kids who need it most. Recognizing them isn’t just about appreciation—it’s about raising awareness and inspiring others to step into this life-changing role.

📣 Introducing Dental Day 📣

Thanks to our friends at - we will be hosting our first Dental Day for children and teens in foster and kinship placements and will not be billed to Medicaid. Appointments include routine dental exams and may include any additional services needed immediately or scheduled at a later date. Email [email protected] to learn more!

After interviewing, 30 hours of training, and court observing - the newest group of Wake County GALs have been sworn in and are ready to advocate for our local children and teens who have been abused or neglected and need someone in their corner. We are so grateful this group stepped up say “yes!”

January is Human Trafficking Awareness Month. Children in foster care are among the most vulnerable to trafficking due to instability, trauma, and the search for safety and belonging—needs traffickers often exploit.

This is why Guardians ad Litem matter. A consistent, trusted advocate can help protect children, amplify their voices, and reduce their risk of further harm.

At Friends of Wake County Guardian ad Litem, we support the volunteers who stand beside these children when they need it most. Together, we can help keep children safe in Wake County.

Last year we served more families, sent more kids to summer camp, filled more holiday wish lists - all because of our donors and supporters.
