NAE4-HYDP’s conference in Kansas City this fall is a great opportunity to connect with others and grow as a professional, but it is also a chance to experience some of the treasures of the Midwest. Refresh yourself with some time for physical activity and reflection by taking in the self-guided walking tour of the Hallmark Art Collection in and around Crown Center. Carve out around an hour in your schedule and take in the sights beginning just outside the Hallmark Visitor Center. The entire tour spans a distance of 1.7 miles, but being self-guided, you can take in as much or as little as you would like to.

As 4-H youth professionals, we try to make a positive impact wherever we go, and this year’s conference is no different. A cause close to many hearts and geographically close to this year’s conference is Children’s Mercy Hospital. Conference attendees are asked to purchase donation items and stop by during the conference to help assemble Happy Kits, which will go to Children’s Mercy and other hospitals in Missouri and Kansas to brighten the day of a child or parent receiving care. Please consider bringing items to donate or visit the Amazon List, where donations can be ordered and shipped so that they can get to the conference without adding to your luggage.

Another great opportunity at the 2026 NAE4-HYDP Conference will be to hear from Missouri 4-H Alumni Jared Niemeyer on the impact 4-H brought to his life, sparking interests and opportunities that have shaped who he is today! Inspired by seeing all the fun and experiences his older brother, Josh, and his friends were having, Jared was eager to join 4-H at 8 years old, and through his experiences and the new skills he learned, he was challenged in so many ways. Jared will share about the role 4-H has played in his life and how he became an avid woodworker, cattleman, Special Olympian, business owner, and an active advocate and spokesperson for disability awareness and Down Syndrome.

What better way to talk about the impact of sparks than to hear it straight from a youth whose future is on fire from her 4-H experiences! Kaycie Hollrah is a 12-year 4-H member and will be a freshman this fall at Mizzou studying Nutrition and Exercise Physiology. As a Missouri 4-H member, she served three terms as a Civic Engagement Ambassador and one term as a Regional Representative on the State Council and Board of Directors. Kaycie was also recognized in 2025 as a National Youth in Action Spokesperson and award recipient by the National 4-H Council. Her other 4-H experiences include attending the National 4-H Conference, National 4-H Congress, Ignite by 4-H, and the Smithsonian Stories 4-H History Program!
