As North Carolina prepares for the start of early voting on October 15, we’re highlighting an important resource from the Survivor Justice Network (Survivor Justice Network (formerly )) to help survivors understand their voting rights and privacy protections.

North Carolina’s Address Confidentiality Program (ACP) provides eligible survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, and human trafficking with a substitute address to help protect their location and personal information.

The Survivor Justice Network’s Guide for Address Confidentiality Programs includes a North Carolina-specific resource explaining eligibility, enrollment, voter registration, and how ACP participants can keep their residential addresses confidential.

October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM)

NCCASA recognizes the contributions of disabled people in workplaces and communities across the country.

For organizations working to end sexual violence, accessibility and disability inclusion are part of building a stronger movement. Disabled people are survivors, advocates, educators, colleagues, leaders, and experts whose perspectives and experiences should help shape our organizations and our work.

That means looking beyond representation alone and considering whether our workplaces, programs, communications, and movement spaces are truly accessible, and whether disabled people have meaningful opportunities to participate and lead.

This month and throughout the year, NCCASA recognizes the contributions and leadership of disabled people across our movement and our communities.

📆 TOMORROW! NCCASA is joining NAESV, , and advocates nationwide in calling on the Senate to pass the bipartisan Crime Victims Fund Stabilization Act.

The Crime Victims Fund supports essential services for survivors across North Carolina, including crisis intervention, advocacy, counseling, and other critical services provided by sexual assault programs.

Declining deposits to the Fund have already put tremendous pressure on victim service programs. Further cuts could mean fewer resources, reduced services, and greater barriers for survivors seeking support.

North Carolina’s survivors and the programs that serve them cannot afford further cuts.

Contact North Carolina’s U.S. Senators and urge them to pass the Crime Victims Fund Stabilization Act.

Survivors cannot wait.

Hispanic Heritage Month is September 15 through October 15.

NCCASA honors the histories, cultures, leadership, and contributions of Hispanic and Latinx communities—and the advocates, survivors, educators, and organizers whose work continues to strengthen the movement to end sexual violence.

Culturally responsive advocacy is essential to building a movement where every survivor can access support, safety, and healing. We celebrate those who bring their language, culture, lived experience, knowledge, and leadership to this work—not only during Hispanic Heritage Month, but every day.

Thank you for the many ways you continue to shape and strengthen our movement.

National Voter Registration Day is one week away!

On September 15, we’re reminded that survivors’ voices matter—and their participation in our democracy matters. Programs across North Carolina can help ensure survivors have access to nonpartisan voter registration information and resources to participate safely.

NCCASA’s North Carolina Nonpartisan Voter Engagement Resources brings together tools for voter registration, nonprofit advocacy, survivor voting and safety, election information, and more.

Explore the resource collection at the link in our bio and help make sure survivors across North Carolina have the information they need to make their voices heard.

NCCASA recently completed its annual NC RPE Leadership Training Seminar (Retreat), held at Courtyard by Marriott at Carolina Beach, bringing together RPE grantees from across the state for two days of learning, connection, empowerment, and renewal.

Prevention Education Program Manager Omar Godwin, NCCASA Contract Evaluator Bianka Reese, and DHHS NC RPE Program Manager Vivian McCater-Blankson facilitated sessions centered on empowerment, re-energizing, and building community. Participants had the opportunity to reflect, connect with one another, and strengthen their commitment to prevention work across North Carolina.

The first day concluded with a restorative yoga session led by Mandy from Yoga Village in Wilmington, giving participants a chance to slow down, recharge, and reconnect with themselves.

On day two, the Early Childhood Foundation joined the group as participants continued exploring the themes of empowerment, renewal, and community. The retreat provided a meaningful space for RPE grantees to share experiences, strengthen relationships, and return to their communities feeling re-energized and inspired.

When we create communities where people learn about consent, communication, bodily autonomy, healthy relationships, and respect, we are also creating conditions that help prevent sexual violence.

This World Sexual Health Day, we’re reminded that promoting healthy, respectful sexuality isn’t separate from the work to end sexual violence. It’s part of it.
