VFW Post 10999

VFW Post 10999 VFW Post 10999, also known as Moore Walker Memorial Post, is a Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) post.

About Veterans of Foreign Wars VFW

The VFW traces its roots back to 1899 when veterans of the Spanish-American War (1898) and the Philippine Insurrection (1899-1902) founded local organizations to secure rights and benefits for their service: Many arrived home wounded or sick. There was no medical care or veterans' pension for them, and they were left to care for themselves. In their misery, some

of these veterans banded together and formed organizations with what would become known as the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States. After chapters were formed in Ohio, Colorado and Pennsylvania, the movement quickly gained momentum. By 1915, membership grew to 5,000; by 1936, membership was almost 200,000.

VFW Post 10999 was honored to welcome national leadership this week.

The VFW Post 10999 Auxiliary hosted VFW Auxiliary National President Lois Callahan and her traveling party for lunch during their visit. It was a wonderful opportunity for members to connect, share the work being done at the post, and highlight the dedication of our Auxiliary here in the community.

We are proud to have had the opportunity to host these outstanding leaders and share the mission and spirit of Post 10999.

Please join us in welcoming them to our post and thanking our Auxiliary for organizing this special visit.

📣 Veterans Organizations Face Change — and Opportunity

A recent Stars & Stripes article highlights the challenge many veterans’ groups face: staying relevant as membership declines.

At VFW Post 10999 in Raleigh, we’re tackling that head-on. We don’t have a canteen — and that’s by design. Our focus is on supporting local veterans, building community, and educating others about our mission.

We’re growing through action — service projects, outreach, and real connections that make a difference for today’s veterans.

If you’re a veteran in the Raleigh area, or you simply want to support those who served, join us. Together, we can shape the future of what a VFW post can be.
