From Planning to Ex*****on: How Matt Taylor is Bringing AMA’s Regional Conference to Life
Matt Taylor, a senior majoring in economics with a minor in business administration and a certificate in data analytics, is serving as AMA’s Vice President of Event Operations during his final year before graduating this spring. After joining AMA in his junior year, Taylor quickly became involved with the Regional Conference (RC) committee and now leads the planning of the chapter’s flagship event. The Regional Conference brings together professional speakers, student competitions, and networking opportunities with industry leaders and AMA chapters from across the country. This event provides students with the chance to apply their classroom knowledge in real-world marketing scenarios through competitions offering prize money.
Now overseeing the conference from start to finish, Taylor says, “The biggest challenge in stepping into this leadership role has been learning how to delegate effectively and build event timelines,” adding that with a strong committee supporting him, everything has run smoothly so far. Looking ahead, he’s most excited about this year’s diverse speaker lineup, which includes professionals from Duolingo, the Small Business Institute, and the Carolina Hurricanes. Taylor encourages students who haven’t bought their tickets yet to attend, highlighting the networking opportunities, competition experience, and professional insight offered through the conference.
