JournHealing is a new series sponsored by Healing Place which allows victims, survivors and any others who have been impacted by Domestic Violence to share their own personal stories of hope, struggles, triumph, and yes, sometimes tragedy! The bold individuals who are willing to come forward in sharing their personal experience with domestic violence and how it has imprinted a lasting effect on th
eir lives, should be applauded for their bravery. They share these stories in the hopes of saving others and perhaps a life by placing a close lens on their private yet painful accounts of what they endured. These individuals are our “unsung” heroes and because of their bravery, courage and tenacity, Healing Place has become more effective at promoting and preventing Domestic Violence through its advocacy, public speaking, literature, articles and more important, its partnerships. Join us to encourage law makers, law enforcement, community activists, concerned citizens and others to toughen laws against those who dare to commit physical and/or other abuses such that these crimes are treated as felonies. Tougher laws may cause an abuser to think twice before committing an act of crime; and yes, perhaps, save a life! Let’s spare our young children from becoming traumatized for life by innocently witnessing the abuse that is now so rampant in our country and even across the globe. Women are marginalized in many ways, yet they also hold positions of power in the legal system, education, not-for-profits, medicine, clergy and so many other fields. One and three women (and sometimes men) will become victims of Domestic Violence; and it must stop. Domestic Violence is intolerable and no one deserves to suffer the lasting consequences of its tragic consequences which inevitably affects us all, resulting in an overwhelming need to provide much needed resources to restore normalcy to the lives of women, children, men and others affected by its occurrence. The Healing Place considers Domestic Violence a public health nuisance that must be eradicated. Join us to promote awareness by sharing your personal story as part of our JournHealing Program. And remember, you are not alone! With many thanks for your support and literary contributions! We look forward to hearing your stories of hope and survival!
