North Carolina 4-H Camps & Centers For more than 80 years, North Carolina 4-H camping has taught youth life skills through centers located from the mountains to the sand hills to the coast.

For more than 80 years, North Carolina 4-H camps and centers have provided youth from Murphy to Manteo with meaningful life lessons and unforgettable experiences. 4-H camps strengthen the foundations of the diverse communities we serve, while promoting healthy lifestyles and fostering a sense of social responsibility in future generations.

4-H offers three residential camps across the state:

> Betsy-Jeff Penn 4-H Educational Center (Reidsville)
> Eastern 4-H Center (Columbia)
> Millstone 4-H Camp (Ellerbe)

North Carolina 4-H camps have a rich history of providing educational programming to thousands of youth through hands-on, experiential learning. Camp offerings include a range of physical fitness and recreational adventures like archery, canoeing and environmental exploration, as well as character-building activities that focus on teambuilding, resource management and STEM studies. Our professionals strive “to make the best better,” encouraging 4-H campers to achieve their full potential through their Head, Heart, Health and Hands. Each 4-H center is managed by a full-time director and supported by program directors, facility maintenance supervisors, food service supervisors and seasonal team members dedicated to providing safe and exceptional facilities, programs and services for our youth. All North Carolina 4-H camps and centers are operated through NC State Extension, the largest non-formal educational outreach unit in the UNC System. NC State Extension transforms science into everyday solutions and grows North Carolina through educational programs and partnerships focused on agriculture and food, health and nutrition, and youth development.

Today is the final day of $4 for 4-H, and we’re making one last push to turn all 100 North Carolina counties green.

There’s a lot to be thankful for in 4-H! 💚

On Thankful Thursday, we’re celebrating the people, experiences and opportunities that make 4-H special.

Consider showing your appreciation by nominating someone who has made a difference through North Carolina 4-H. Two opportunities are currently available to recognize those who help make 4-H possible:

🏆 4-H Alumni and Adult Awards — Celebrate individuals, families and partners who have made a lasting impact on 4-H across North Carolina.
🗓️ Nominations are due October 26.

🍀 4-H Volunteer Leaders’ Association Awards — Recognize outstanding 4-H volunteers and supporters for their service and dedication.
🗓️ Nominations are due November 20.

So far, supporters have helped us reach:

🎁 $2,780 raised for the 4-H Priorities Fund

Each gift brings us closer to our $4 for 4-H goal of receiving at least one gift connected to every North Carolina county and helps support opportunities for young people through NC 4-H.

It's official - registration is now open for our 2026 Summer Camp season!
