Pamlico County High School 's recruitment activity took place in early September in the cafeteria during their school lunches. Student officers and some members wore Skills shirts and set up a SkillsUSA table with handout information, registration forms, and lots of candy. One officer made fun Skills themed sunglasses and walked around taking photos of students wearing the glasses. The event created a lot of interest and resulted in many sign ups. Our first meeting was the next day and was well attended, An officer then made a follow up video to post on social media

Great work!

This year Columbus Career & College Academy 's SkillsUSA Chapter took a different approach to recruitment. They decided they would do a week of fun recruitment activities, followed by an interest meeting the following Monday. Recruitment week was held August 17 - August 21, 2026. Each day during lunch period, they had a table set up in the main hallway. They had their chapter President sit at the table along with a few other members.

On Monday, they had an info day during which pamphlets were handed out along with scavenger-hunt bingo cards. Students had the opportunity to ask any questions they had about SkillsUSA as well as sign up as interested.

On Tuesday, a taste test was held to draw in students to inquire about SkillsUSA. Homemade cookies along with store-bought cookies were placed on a platter, and students were asked to judge which they preferred.

On Wednesday, a photo booth was organized with props and frames. They enlisted a SkillsUSA member who competes in photography to take the photos. Frames were made by another student.

On Thursday, bingo cards were taken up, and prizes were handed out to the students who completed their cards.

On Friday, games were held, and prizes were given out once again. Students were informed of the meeting the following Monday.

These activities were conducted during the 3rd week of school, which gave students a chance to get back into the school routine before starting recruitment

Love this process!

In September, Pitt Community College held their SkillsUSA Kickoff Meeting in Leslie 143 at 9:00am. Twenty students were in attendance along with three advisors. They saw students who participated last year that brought new students with them to the meeting. Some of the students present attended their Clubs & Subs event a few weeks ago. Three more students signed up and many more mentioned talking with their program advisor about participating before they signed up. They had candy for those who arrived at the check-in tables. The above picture was taken at the morning's meeting.

What helped make it a success was the fact that they hosted a table on August 26th at their campus event, Clubs & Subs, in which a couple of hundreds of students attended the event. At that event they passed out their local brochure and had their club meetings flyer on the table so students would know when their meetings will be held this year. Eight students signed up at the event, and many took applications and brochures stating they were interested. Right after Clubs & Subs, SGA hosted their first meeting in which SkillsUSA attended and was allowed to mention our Kickoff Meeting

Love this strategy!

Today, we begin showcasing the Chapters who participated in our Membership Recruitment Challenge, sharing how they recruit members and we'll continue sharing 1 per day until we finish. Following that, we will record and post the drawing of the $50 Walmart Gift Card.

First up, Vernon Malone College and Career Academy in Raleigh and their Club Fair they used to recruit for SkillsUSA.

The activity took place on Friday, September 4 in their Gym during lunch. There were 100 students in attendance and lots of great questions about SkillsUSA! VMCAA is an Affiliate Member (Total participation or TPP school) so it was great for them to share information with the 9th and 10th graders who do not know anything about how SkillsUSA helps students to LevelUp. Lots of current students stopped by and loved seeing their photos on the display board. One 9th grader was excited to see a photo of both of her brothers who have competed in Electrical wiring

Love this event (and how y'all y'all rocked the NLSC pirate hat!)
