On August 24, 1941, the Gamma Gamma Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. was chartered right here in Greenville, South Carolina by the following Brothers:

Alpha Gents 2027 is underway!!

We kicked off this year’s Alpha Gents experience with a powerful Car Maintenance 101 session for our Alpha Gents and Alpha Junior Gents!

The theme: “Taking Care of Your Vehicle is Part of Taking Care of Yourself.”

Our young men got hands-on knowledge about what’s under the hood, learned essential vehicle maintenance skills, and gained a better understanding of the responsibility that comes with being a driver and vehicle owner.

But the learning didn’t stop with the cars. 🧠

We also spent time in deep discussion and debate around moral issues and conflicting statements. Our Gents were challenged to take a position, explain their reasoning, defend their stance, and (perhaps most importantly) listen to opposing viewpoints and remain open to changing their minds when presented with a convincing argument.

That’s an important part of becoming a man: having the courage to stand on what you believe, the wisdom to listen, and the humility to admit when you might be wrong.

A special THANK YOU to Mr. Roy McKinney, owner of McKinney’s Mobile Maintenance, for investing his time, knowledge, and experience into our young men. He taught them about cars, but the bigger lesson was about responsibility, discipline, confidence, independence, critical thinking, and self-respect.

This is what Alpha Gents is about. We are developing young men who are prepared not only for the road, but for the road called LIFE. 🛠️🏁

A voteless people is a hopeless people. Today, the Brothers stood proud to ensure our community's voice remains powerful. 🤙🏾❄️

We were honored to partner with the Greenville Common Ground for the "What Hits Home?" Community Resource & Voter Mobilization Event at Bethlehem United Methodist Church!

Together, we spent the day locking arms with our neighbors to address the critical issues that hit closest to home: housing, transportation, and food security. As part of our ongoing Voteless People, Hopeless People campaign, our focus is clear. Voter education, awareness, and mobilization ahead of this November.

Today's impact included:

🗳️Empowering Voters: Helping community members discover the power of their ballot and lock in their "Get Out and Vote" plans.
🗳️Building Connections: Facilitating direct conversations between residents, current elected officials, and candidates running for office.
🗳️Resource Sharing: Connecting families with vital local support services, workforce training, and childcare resources.
