NCSU CVM Equine Health Symposium An annual veterinary continuing education event organized by student members of the NC State SCAAEP.

The NCSU CVM Equine Health Symposium is an annual event focused solely on the horse, and includes lectures and demonstrations by renowned practitioners and CVM faculty. The professional program is meant for veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and farriers to gain CE hours. Our owners program allows horse owners to expand their knowledge on horse health. Registration is still open! This one-day NCVMA accredited CE program is open for large animal veterinarians, technicians and pre-veterinary students and will be offered in-person on February 21st. The live-animal wet lab session is capped and limited to technicians and veterinarians so make sure to reserve your spot! Registration includes breakfast, lunch and lectures notes. Vets and Techs! We are happy to announce the 2026 Equine Health Symposium will take place on Saturday February 21st and will be covering lectures on equine asthma and pneumonia, equine metabolic diseases and axial skeleton conditions! This year it offers 9 CE hours accredited by NCVMA including two hours of hands-on experience on cervical and back radiography and thoracic ultrasounding. While the lectures are designed with field large animal veterinarians in mind, the content is relevant and open to all large animal practitioners.

Thank you to all the avid horse owners who came out to support the Equine Health Symposium yesterday! We had a great lineup of speakers and hope you all learned a lot during the lab! A huge shoutout to our sponsors, all the volunteers throughout the day, and to the SCAAEP officers who let us borrow their horses!

Pasture Pals Equine Rescue was also gracious enough to bring three of their horses to use for the lab. Be sure to check them out as they are always looking for volunteers!

Registration is now full!! We can’t wait to see you all there. For those attending, we will be holding a silent action at the event as a fundraiser for our SCAAEP club. With that being said, business owners, if there are any items you would be willing to donate to be auctioned we would greatly appreciate it!

Come and learn all things horses from vaccinations, joint injections, pre-purchase exam need to knows, and emergencies! There is even a hands on learning portion this year where you will learn how to perform a physical exam on a horse with tools from your send home emergency kit.

The symposium is this weekend, don’t forgot to register!

The 2023 Equine Health Symposium will be held February 18-19th and features 12 hours of CE credit for vets, vet techs, and farriers. This years topics include podiatry, pain management and complementary therapies.

On February 19th, horse owners and enthusiasts are invited to attend to learn more about horse health. We will cover topics such as hoof diseases, nutrition, and behavior.
