Founded in 1986, we serve all medically eligible children who reside in the 49 counties east of the Orange/Alamance county line - serving the Triangle to the coast. We grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength, and joy.

Wish kid Charlie loves the Gladwell Orthodontics Charity Cafe, and through the end of June, you can join her, and the team at Gladwell Orthodontics, in being a Wishmaker!

Stop by the Charity Cafe at Gladwell Orthodontics and enjoy one of their refreshing drinks, free of charge! While the drinks are free, the donations you make can help transform the life of children battling a critical illness in eastern North Carolina. Every dollar donated helps bring hope, joy, and life-changing wishes to local children and their families!

Isaac and his family were on their way to a beach vacation in 2023 when their lives changed forever. Following a recent appointment, Isaac’s pediatrician called and said he needed immediate additional testing. Soon after, those tests led to a leukemia diagnosis.

Years of treatment made it difficult for Isaac to enjoy the magic of childhood, but his wish to go to Hawaii gave him and his family the beach vacation of their dreams! Along with time spent on Hawaii’s beautiful beaches, Isaac also got to visit Pearl Harbor. As a passionate history lover with two great-grandfathers who served during World War II, experiencing that history firsthand made the trip even more meaningful.

Eight-year-old Camden brings joy everywhere he goes, but from an early age he has faced complex medical needs that require constant care, making it difficult for his family to experience new adventures together. But Camden’s wish to visit Walt Disney World changed all of that.

Stepping into the happiest place on Earth allowed Camden and his family to be together without the stress of medical care and appointments. Each day in the parks brought new excitement that gave them a renewed sense of freedom and confidence as they embraced each thrill together.

Twenty-year-old Simon has always felt most at home outdoors, but when a cancer diagnosis turned his life upside down, getting back outside was what kept him going.

When Simon learned his wish was going to be granted, he knew he wanted an adventure surrounded by nature, making Costa Rica the perfect destination! Each day was filled with unforgettable moments, like hiking a volcano, that allowed the fear and uncertainty of treatment to be replaced with joy, excitement, and meaningful memories with his family.

Summer is right around the corner, and we are so excited for each of our wish kids, like wish kid Maryssa, to soak up the sunshine and make unforgettable memories!

After a cancer diagnosis, Maryssa’s wish trip to Hawaii was the perfect opportunity for her to embrace joy, experience the adventures she had been dreaming about, and trade hospital visits and treatment plans for sunshine, ocean breezes, and the magic of a summer escape. Each day was filled with breathtaking views, exciting new experiences, and a renewed sense of hope and happiness.

Meet Vivana, our newest Breeze Kid Spotlight!

Vivianna battles a nervous system disorder, but when she qualified for a wish, she knew Walt Disney World was the only place she wanted to go! Thanks to Breeze Airways, Viviana’s heart lit up with joy every second of her wish, and she even got to celebrate her birthday at the most magical place on earth! But not only that, Breeze Airways made the journey even more magical by giving Vivana and her family a special shout-out on the plane, leading to a huge round of applause from fellow passengers! It turned an already exciting flight into an unforgettable celebration.

Kaylani is the kind of kid who lights up every room with her energy and imagination. She loves singing, dancing to her favorite songs, and dressing up like the princess she is! But last year, her family's world was turned upside down when Kaylani was diagnosed with a serious brain tumor.

Kaylani has faced incredible difficulties throughout her treatment process, but thanks to her wish, Kaylani was able to leave the worries of her critical illness behind at Walt Disney World! At Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, she transformed into the princess she had always dreamed of being, creating magical memories and experiencing the joy of simply being a kid again.

Last week, we celebrated Addie, our 5,000th wish recipient in Eastern North Carolina. Watching her explore her new adaptive playset was a powerful reminder of why we do what we do.

For 40 years, this community has turned fear and uncertainty into hope and joy. Addie represents the strength of every wish kid we’ve served and the bright future ahead for the next 5,000. We love you, Addie!

We are proud to share that Addie’s wish for an adaptive playset marked our 5,000th wish granted in Eastern North Carolina!

Each day, Addie and her family navigate challenges most people never have to face. Now, those days are filled with excitement and play, thanks to a space designed just for her!

Over the past 40 years, 5,000 children have experienced the power of a wish, and we are honored to have been part of every single one. But we aren’t stopping anytime soon! We are ready to bring that same life-changing impact to thousands more children in the years ahead.
