The Alley of Radiation: Our Family’s Cancer Fight

We didn’t expect to fight cancer twice in one house.
I’m in aggressive stage 4 prostate cancer that has spread to my bone. I’m also in my final 8 days of radiation at Duke — 35 treatments total. My last session is Monday, April 27th.

While I’ve been walking The Alley of Radiation, my daughter has been facing her own battle with breast cancer. Two diagnoses. One family. All at once.

Radiation has changed my body. My skin is darker with burns and new wrinkles. I live with crushing fatigue, low energy as expected, bone pain, joint aches, and hot flashes. But I show up every day because the nurses and staff at Duke make this bearable. They treat me with kindness and hope.

Please, dear friends and followers, I need your help because my health Insurance doesn’t cover everything. Between my treatments, my daughter’s care, travel to Duke, medications, and basic living costs while I can’t work, the bills are overwhelming.

For many years, Isreal used power, propaganda to lie about Iran and Middle East, protected by America’s powerful economy and political elites from both Republicans and Democrats. Isreal depended on America’s military mights and army, weaponized its privileges to sell the Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, Palestinian, Hezbollah as murderers and Evil nation states who cannot be allowed to self defense within that region. Europe and other western nations legacy media, journalists, especially journalists whose descendants were Jews and or hebrews, were cajoled, threatened and deceived to always portray Isreal as the victims and Palestine and Iran as axis of evil. Watch legacy media reports on the current attacks and you will see how they underreport Isreal’s casualties.

The world is no longer flat. Go to TikTok and watch real time footages of how Iran is destroying Isreal, how Israeli citizens are running into bomb shelters from their homes as sirens blared. Meanwhile a lot of conservative young Americans seem to have seen Israel’s lies and thus, are against The United States helping Isreal in any ways.
Be alert because soon Netanyahu will visit the United States to seek military aid. Meanwhile Pakistan, a nuclear power nation warned that if the US joins this fight, it would have no option but to support Iran. Finally Isreal has met its match. TEN YEARS LATER

A REMEMBRANCE

The 2012 economic downturn in Nigeria's banking sector claimed many victims, including talented professionals like Ebere Ukwu. As a bank manager in Lagos, Ebere lost her job due to the crisis. Seeking a fresh start, she traveled to the United States in November 2012.

Tragically, her new life was cut short. On May 5, 2013, Ebere was hospitalized at Wake Medical Hospital in Raleigh, North Carolina, due to a high fever. Her condition rapidly deteriorated, and she suffered a massive cardiac arrest that left her in a coma. For two years and one month, she remained in coma. Ultimately, Ebere passed away on June 1, 2015.

These times mark the tenth anniversary of her passing. Her story serves as a poignant reminder of life's fragility and the importance of cherishing every moment.

Her story, told through engaging narratives, resonated with social and mainstream media, particularly in my weekend column, "Jebose Boulevard," at The Punch. The column shared the tale of a young woman whose dreams were shattered by a sudden illness, far from her loved ones.

The community in Raleigh rallied around Ebere, adopting her as one of their own. I organized a fundraising effort to send her body back to Lagos for burial. Alongside fellow Raleigh Residents, Felicia Chika Harrison and Nwachukwu Okafor, we raised enough money to arrange for her funeral, her mortuary stay and the flight of her remains back to Nigeria. I traveled to Nigeria on July 7th to receive her body, alongside her family a dear friend Basil Okafor and Mrs. Ify Viosmart Hill. Ebere's body arrived on the night of July 8th, and she was laid to rest on July 9th. May her soul continue to rest in grace. This experience, the experience of taking the body of a stranger who died while trying to fulfill her dreams, home to her family and buried her, impacted my life and emboldened my service to humanity. Ebere lives in all of us.

Nigeria’s failed singer, otherwise known as Speed Darlington, in attempt to rescue his failing act, decided to make a video wherein he confessed to how he lured a minor to an hotel room, r***d her as her watched her innocent blood stained the hotel room’s bedsheet.

In a second video to calm reactions to his confession, this fool claimed that he was only making contents for his social media, that nothing of such happened. He tried to walk his video statement back, so unserious and ignorant.

That’s not a creative content. Thats confession of a crime: ra**ng a minor in a hotel and bragging about it. He deserves a window in the hehd, a slice in his anywhere. If that girl was my daughter, there would be no second video from him. Speed is a confessed ra**st, he arrogantly and proudly told us how he r***d the child and watched her bled until her blood stained the hotel’s bedsheets. It’s up to all of us to find this girl, also find the hotel, the room at the hotel where this sadistic s**t happened, collect a DNA from the mattress. Yes it’s possible. After these efforts, Kpai Speed Darlington. He deserves to kpai!

“PSA, short for prostate-specific antigen, is a protein produced by the prostate gland. A PSA test, a blood test, measures the amount of PSA in a man's blood. Elevated PSA levels may indicate prostate cancer, but can also be elevated for other conditions affecting the prostate, according to the National Cancer Institute.”

Over 300,000 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer every year.

If detected early, prostate cancer is curable and treatable.

“ According to the American Cancer Society, approximately 1 in 6 (16.7%) Black men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime, compared to 1 in 9 (11.1%) men overall. This means that Black men are about 1.5 times more likely to develop prostate cancer than men of other racial groups.
Furthermore, Black men are also more likely to be diagnosed with advanced-stage prostate cancer and to die from the disease. The 5-year survival rate for localized prostate cancer is 99% for Black men and 98% for White men. However, for advanced-stage prostate cancer, the 5-year survival rate is only 30% for Black men and 32% for White men.”

The next few months shall be challenging to the family. Please encourage the men in your lives that are over 40 to check their PSA every six months through blood work. Also encourage the women in your lives from age 25 to check, annually for breast cancer. We continue to pray for Biden and all those whose families have been impacted by cancer.

A few hours ago, Nigeria’s Delta North Senator, terrorist Ned Nwoko Sponsored the second reading of “a bill for an act to Amend the Nigeria Data Protection Act 23, which would mandate the establishment of physical offices within territorial boundaries of the Federal Republic of Nigeria by social media platforms and related matters 2025 (SB 650).

What the widely known terrorist wishes is to directly intimidate, harass and unlawfully arrest bloggers, social media influencers, using his force cronies inside the Abuja Force HQ.

This idea is no surprise to most of us that have been terrorized through the years by terrorist Ned Nwoko who trends on social media for his bragging rights about his desires to marry and lusts for young virgins than his accomplishments as a Senator.
