✨ Intern Spotlight: Monica ✨
A rising junior at UNC Chapel Hill, Monica is studying advertising/public relations and environmental studies, gaining hands-on experience in the non-profit space. Driven by a passion for advocacy, she uses her communications skills to tell the stories of the women served and support the Center's broader media efforts.
One of her goals this summer is to help grow the Women's Center's digital presence while reflecting the strength and dignity of the women served here. In just a few weeks, Monica has already seen firsthand the resilience of the women who walk through our doors, and the difference that access to community & resources can make in someone's life.
We're grateful to have Monica as part of our team 💜

✨Client Story: Samara✨
Samara has only been coming to the Women's Center for two weeks, but has already felt a difference. As someone who describes herself as introverted, she found something she wasn't looking for: community and a place of belonging.
"It's very cool to talk to other women of different backgrounds." When asked what advice she'd give to another woman in her situation, she kept it simple: "Keep going."
For the staff and donors who make all this possible, Samara says: "They deserve to be acknowledged."
We thank Samara for sharing her story 💜

🍽️ Meal Request 🍽️
This summer we have three different ways to get involved with providing meals at the Women's Center.
- Day Shelter
- Overnight Shelter
- Recuperative Respite
Day Shelter needs volunteers to provide and serve breakfast to around 70 guests and lunch to approximately 100 women each weekday. Our Overnight Shelter has opportunities for providing and serving dinner every night. Mondays for 40 people, and the rest of the week 110 guests.
Recuperative Respite has 11 guests that need all meals dropped off at our 2200 New Bern location.
All meal provision opportunities can be seen on our volunteer platform at https://buff.ly/ZDXBq0b

✨ Client Story: Cherese✨
Cherese came to the Women's Center after losing her job and housing, finding herself new to Raleigh with no support system. Since coming to the Women's Center, she has connected with resources, built stability, and grown confident enough to guide other women through our doors. She doesn't focus on how hard things were, but instead on how far she's come.
She says, "You take the time to do it, to take the step - and they really do help you. Be it clothes, food, shelter, resources, or phones. Just come here."
We thank her for sharing her story 💜

This school year Shritha has been a Teen Leadership Board Member and a Development intern through Youth Ambassadors of Service. Shritha says volunteering has strengthened her skills and encouraged her to connect with others. She says, "Through this experience, I have gained confidence and met many amazing people. Some of my core memories are decorating the Center for Christmas, volunteering at Galentine's Day, and eating ice cream during our last teen board meeting. I have loved volunteering at WCWC, and I am incredibly grateful for everyone who has encouraged and supported my growth!"
If you or someone you know is interested in joining our Teen Board, the application is on our website at: https://buff.ly/oUT53do
