Winky Perry, one of our outstanding volunteers, also serves as the current Co- Chair of the NC Farm Bureau Women’s Leadership Committee. We are grateful for her dedication, passion, and love for all things AG! ❤️

Meet Winky Perry of Wake County!

Winky serves as the current Co- Chair of the NC Farm Bureau Women’s Leadership Committee.

She and her husband own and operate RC Perry Farms, where they grow wheat, soybeans, and rye, sell baled straw, grow to***co plants from seed in the greenhouse, and sell the transplants.

In addition to her work on the farm, Winky is an active leader in her community—serving on her county’s Farm Bureau Women’s Leadership Committee. She was also a past 4-H leader.

What inspires or motivates you in your community or professional life?
I have always been drawn towards volunteering to help, teach, or serve. Attempting to make a difference motivates me.

We are proud to highlight Winky as part of the International Year of the Woman Farmer and celebrate her dedication to agriculture and leadership across North Carolina! N.C. Farm Bureau

We are continuing our year-long highlight of female farmers in Wake County to celebrate 2026 as the International Year of the Woman Farmer!

This month's farmers are Monnie Jenks and her daughter, Sonya Fowler of Po Hous Farm in Apex!

Po Hous Farm in Apex, NC, is a fourth-generation farm run by the Jenks family that provides local produce and goods. Monnie, the matriarch of the family, and her daughter Sonya are both members of our Women's Leadership Committee. Sonya's daughter, Natalie, serves as Chair of the Committee, and Monnie's husband, the late Richard Jenks, served as our County President for almost 20 years!

Po Hous offers seasonal pick-your-own produce like strawberries in the spring and pumpkins in the fall. Po Hous provides the beautiful pumpkins that we give students in the fall for Ag in the Classroom! They also sell fresh eggs, homemade ice cream, and other local goods, including Sonya's mouthwatering sourdough bread!

You can find them at www.pohousfarm.com

It's Agricultural Literacy Week!
🌱🌱🌱
What's Agricultural Literacy?
➡ It is understanding how the agricultural industry works – not just where food comes from, but who grows it, agriculture’s effect on the economy, environment, technology, lifestyle and its relationship to livestock. AFBFA. (2022).
🌱🌱🌱
Are you celebrating or increasing agricultural literacy this week? Let us know in the comments!

Women who support agriculture! Wake County Farm Bureau was well represented at the 21st Annual Keeping the Farm Workshop today. This workshop is designed to provide valuable tools and strategies to help landowners manage and preserve their farms amid today's unique challenges.

Did you know that 66 people move into Wake County every day? It is critical to make sure that agriculture continues to have a presence in Wake County. If you ate today, make sure to thank a farmer! 🚜
