Such a heavy heart for these young men. Preach safety.

Our work shouldn’t be deadly.

Two young men died from hydrogen sulfide gas exposure while cleaning a well in St. Clair County. Three others were hospitalized in the workplace tragedy.

This is THE week! See you in Charlotte!!

New year.
Same early mornings.
Same frozen hands.
Same mission:
clean, safe drinking water that doesn’t care what day it is.

May your drill bit stay sharp,
your grout seal tight,
and your coffee almost as strong
as the groundwater you protect.

Cheers to another year of doing work that actually matters.

Happy New Year - 2026!

From the Water Well Trust:

One Year After Hurricane Helene, WWT Still Helping

As we mark the first anniversary of Hurricane Helene that devastated Western North Carolina, the Water Well Trust is truly proud of the work that has been accomplished through the Disaster Relief Fund.

More than $260,000 was generously donated over the past year, which helped fund 21 projects. Projects ranged from distribution wells at a local fire department and area churches to private wells for local homeowners. The WWT utilized nine different well contractors across the area for these projects.

At the end of September, the local Charlotte NBC station featured Water Well Trust and one of the recipients of the funding. This has helped get the word out for those that still need help; however, the funds have dwindled and the need is still there.

If you wish to help, you can still donate!

**Review of Well Contractor Certification Rules**
Public Comment Period: Sept. 4-Nov. 10, 2025

The Well Contractors Certification Commission is reviewing the rules in 15A NCAC Subchapter 27 (Well Contractor Certification Rules) as required by North Carolina law (G.S. 150B-21.3A).

As part of this process, the Commission has published Initial Determination Reports about whether each rule is still needed.

Necessary rules are those that should remain in place.
Unnecessary rules are those the Commission considers outdated, redundant or no longer needed.
We want your input. Public comment means written comments objecting to the rule, in whole or in part, or objecting to an agency's determination of the rule as necessary or unnecessary; the comment must address the content of the rule to be considered by the Rules Review Commission. An unnecessary rule is defined as a rule that the agency determines to be obsolete, redundant, or otherwise not needed. A necessary rule is defined as any rule other than an unnecessary rule.

You can submit comments on the Initial Determination Reports page from Sept. 4 through Nov. 10, 2025.
