Calling all teens! Join NCWF Tri-County Conservationists Chapter and RewildNC for an invasive removal and venturing crew recruiting event. The Tri-County Conservationists are launching a new program to engage conservation-minded youth ages 14-20 in partnership with Scouting America. Interested youth will come together to plan conservation events, like invasive removals, under the name Venturing Crew3. This is their first event! Volunteers will help save trees by removing invasive Chinese wisteria. This event is open to all ages, but we would love to see the next generation of conservationists turn out in full force!

When: Sunday, April 12th from 2 PM - 4 PM
Location: Headwaters Preserve, Chapel Hill

We have TWO great service project opportunities!

We’ve been contacted by two local organizations looking for Scouts who are ready to lead and make a difference in our community. If you (or someone in your unit) are looking for a meaningful service or Eagle project, take a look:

Project Opportunity #1 – Apex
Simple Gifts Community Garden is seeking a Scout to design and build a new 16-foot harvest table to replace two aging tables currently used to sort and prepare produce for delivery to local food banks.

The new table would be:
• 16 feet long and 36 inches high
• Built from sturdy pressure-treated lumber
• Designed by the Scout (with creative features such as shelving for baskets, space for task lists, water bottle storage, etc.)
• Include wooden posts on either end to support a canopy

Goal completion: Early Spring

This project directly supports food distribution efforts in our community and will serve volunteers for years to come.

Interested Scouts should contact:
Monty Moree
[email protected]

Project Opportunity #2 – Bonsal, NC
New Hope Valley Railway is looking for Scouts to assist with various on-site improvement projects. This is a great opportunity for hands-on work in a unique and historic setting.

Interested Scouts should contact:

If your unit has Scouts looking for a leadership opportunity, please share this post and help us connect these community partners with our amazing Cardinal District youth.

Let’s continue making an impact!

🚀🌌 We’re sending our very best wishes to Eagle Scout and JNW alumnus Jack Hathaway, who launched today as part of NASA SpaceX Crew-12 on his way to the International Space Station. Jack earned his Eagle Scout rank with Troop 186 South Windsor, CT, and spent part of his Scouting journey right here at J.N. Webster — hiking our trails, building friendships, and developing the leadership that defines both Scouting and space exploration. From campfires to orbit around the Earth, his journey is an incredible testament to where hard work, curiosity, and the values of Scouting can lead. We couldn’t be prouder — clear skies and a successful mission, Jack!
