A message from Gaston Warner...
When Fiona was just 13, her mother made one final request before she passed away:
“Take care of your siblings.”
Fiona promised she would.
That promise meant fleeing an unsafe home after her mother’s death, caring for a baby brother who suffered seizures, and keeping her siblings together while living with—and caring for—her disabled grandmother and blind grandfather. No child should have to carry that weight.
Then, in 2022, everything changed.
Fiona joined Zoe Empowers Rwanda.
With training, support, and a small startup investment, Fiona launched a vegetable business. Soon, she was able to feed her family, send her siblings back to school, and afford medical care for her baby brother. With the help of her empowerment group, she even built a home for her family.
What feels like a miracle to me is this: the solution wasn’t complicated—just the right support at the right time.
Today, Fiona runs three successful businesses. Her family has moved beyond surviving to thriving. And her future—once filled with fear—is now filled with possibility.
As we close out the year, I invite you to be part of stories like Fiona’s. A year-end gift to Zoe Empowers can help vulnerable youth gain the tools, confidence, and opportunity to build lasting, life-changing futures.
Together, we can turn despair into dignity—and poverty into opportunity.
