We are sad to announce the passing of Neshama Sanctuary hospice pup, Tzvi. Found as a stray in Charlotte at the age of 16, we only had Tzvi for a couple of weeks, but were able to give him the life ending he deserved- one with meds, care, comfort and love. This is the sacred, soul-challenging work of Neshama and we appreciate all of the beings who were a meaningful part of his time with us. Donations for his end of life care can be made through the website donate.neshamarescue.org or through Facebook. Thank you all. 🐾🤍

HEY NESHAMA CHAVERIM! Our friends at Longleaf Animal Rescue are in need of some fosters. (And some kitty adopters while you're at it!) You all are supporters, adopters, fosters, and general badasses. We are grateful for you and hope you will continue to show up and help the animals! Thank you for your love and work - let's help our friends at Longleaf! This is a hard week and our hearts are broken by so many things. The way to heal a heart is by letting love in - fostering is the best way we know how.

The world is losing all the good ones this week. Today we said goodbye to Neshama Sanctuary Matriarch, Gertie. She is where we got the idea for a sanctuary for senior shelter dogs and we had her for almost two whole years! She was the most beloved of the pack because they all thought she was their mama. A tough old angel til the end, the vet had a difficult time with the euthanasia because the cancer had spread to her heart therefore had tons of fluid build up around that space. Your donations have kept her healthy, happy and comfortable for two years. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your generosity- it bought her time. May we all be kind and gentle to one another in memory of all those we have lost this week. The heaviness is real.

TRANSPORT HELP PLZ: Bunn to NW Raleigh🚕

Early yesterday AM this guy was under a front window when I went out to change the bird baths. He bolted and I lost sight of him but a few hours later he was back sitting in the front little bird garden area. Thankfully I was able to trap him fairly quickly. He's nervous, but warming up with the help of delicious food. I have no clue where he came from but the stars aligned because 2PawsUp had space to take him immediately - he just needs to get there! Is anyone able to be his Uber? Day/time is somewhat flexible. He promises to be a very polite passenger🥹

Meet Pickle 🐾

Pickle is a sweet, handsome 4-year-old boy looking for his forever home. ❤️ He is incredibly loving with his people and has so much love to give. He’s a well-trained, smart boy who loves being part of the family.

Pickle knows sit, can give a high five, is crate trained, up to date on vaccines, neutered and walks well on a leash. He has great house manners and doesn’t get on the furniture unless he’s invited—which is something he absolutely loves! 🥰

What Pickle really wants is a family with a secure, fenced-in backyard where he can safely explore, sniff around, and enjoy being outside. He would thrive with people who will give him attention, affection, and plenty of time with his family.

One important thing: Pickle is not good with cats, so he needs a cat-free home. He would do best with a family that understands his needs and is committed to giving him a loving forever home.

Pickle is such a good boy with a big personality and an even bigger heart. He deserves a family who will love him as much as he loves his people. ❤️🐶

We said “see you later” this week to fospice sanctuary pup, Chaser. For the last two years of his life he was lovingly cared for by Amanda and Nick through our sanctuary program. He was loved, always had medical care, had a soft bed, and had a pack to be a part of. Instead of dying in a shelter, we were able to provide him a comfortable 2 years thanks to your donations and the constant care from Amanda and Nick. Thank you to all of Chaser’s care team- including the dogs in his foster home- and please keep them all in your comforting thoughts. We are full of gratitude for this sweet soul and the opportunity to love him until the end. ❤️

UPDATE! WE HAVE A FOSTER AND ARE GETTING HER!!!!
🚨 Last Call for Little Hazel🚨 We desperately need somewhere for Hazel to go. Hazel is a 13-year-old Toy Poodle who just wants a soft bed and someone to love her. She is deaf, has some vision loss, and struggles with dry eye, but she still has so much love left to give.

Like many senior dogs, Hazel has a few lumps and bumps. She may eventually become a hospice dog, but right now we’re simply looking for ANYTHING - a foster, a foster-to-help-us-buy-time, or an adopter willing to give her the comfort she deserves.

Senior dogs don’t ask for much. A quiet home. A warm lap. A little kindness.

If you can open your home to Hazel, even temporarily, please APPLY ON OUR WEBSITE - link in bio. Must be within an hour of Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill and willing to drive to appts and events. We don’t want this sweet girl to run out of options.

MIKO UPDATE! What a ride. Y’all gave so generously to his dental emergency and we are so grateful. Thank you deeply. We got him to see our vet here in Georgia who confirmed he did have an abscess. We knew the vet we wanted to do his dental was back in NC, so that evening we messaged her AND got an application to adopt Miko!?! A previous adopter who loves senior dogs said she wanted him and our vet in NC is going to do his dental surgery. Our volunteer pilot friend flew Miko from Georgia to Smithfield today so Miko could get to his new mom. The timing was truly divine. Thank you to his new momma, Cindy, and to the vets, pilots, donors, fosters and caregivers who have helped Miko on this difficult journey. After his dental surgery, we will update y’all again.

Happiest birthday to one of our fantastic sanctuary parents, Zak 🎂 He takes amazing care of so many animals who need love, patience and gentleness. We are grateful for all the sacrifices he makes and for the time he puts into Neshama animals. Happy birthday, Zak!
