Early voting is open and there are three items on your ballot that will affect our schools. The Barton Pond PTA board has taken a position on each.
✅ We support the Wake County school bond. It funds repairs, renovations, new schools, HVAC, and safety upgrades for schools across the county. It’ll only cost the average Wake county homeowner about $21 a year.
❌ We oppose the two tax amendments. One would lower the constitutional cap on the state income tax rate from 7% to 3.5%. The other would require limits on how much local governments can raise property taxes. Our board believes state and local leaders need flexibility to respond to changing needs, and these amendments would reduce their ability to do that.
Early voting runs through Oct. 31, and Election Day is Nov. 3. Check your ballot at the NC State Board of Elections site (remember there are 2 sides to the ballot), then decide for yourself and VOTE!
