‼️🎯 Attention Shooting Sports Families! 🎯‼️

The 2026 Mississippi 4-H Shooting Sports State Contest is just around the corner! State competition will be held July 17–18, and there are several important deadlines and requirements that must be completed for participants to compete.

Parents of qualifying youth should have received an email from Smith County Extension. The email was sent to the address provided on your child's original registration form and includes the required Registration and Health Forms, along with the contest agenda. If you have not received this email, please contact the Extension Office as soon as possible.

✅ Registration Form & Health Form Due: June 12
✅ State Contest Fee ($75) Due: June 12
✅ Additional 2 Hours of Practice Required
✅ Youth who qualified in two disciplines must select ONE discipline for state competition

⚠️ No registrations or paperwork will be accepted after the June 12 deadline.

We are incredibly proud of our Shooting Sports team members for a successful season. We look forward to seeing those who advance compete in July!

Smith County 4-H invites youth ages 5–13 to join us for June Clover Crumb: 4-H Kitchen Science—a fun two-day adventure where we explore how everyday kitchen items can teach us about biology, physics, and chemistry!

From bubbling reactions to surprising discoveries, participants will see just how much science is happening right at home. 🔍✨

Taylorsville FBC youth recently participated in the 21-day Hatch Out Program, an educational experience that allowed participants to observe the complete life cycle of chicks from incubation to hatching. Throughout the program, youth learned about embryology, poultry science, and the daily care required to successfully incubate eggs.
During the three-week experience, participants monitored egg development, discussed proper incubation temperatures and humidity levels, and learned how chicks grow and develop before hatching. The hands-on program provided an exciting opportunity for youth to witness the hatching process firsthand while gaining a greater understanding of animal science and agriculture.
The Hatch Out Program encouraged responsibility, curiosity, and agricultural awareness while connecting youth to the importance of the poultry industry and animal care. Watching the chicks hatch after 21 days created a memorable and educational experience for all involved.

Congratulations to all of the winners of the Smith County 4-H Bass Tournament! Thank you to everyone who came out to support, compete, and make the event a success. We appreciate all of our anglers, families, volunteers, and community supporters who helped create a fun and memorable tournament. We look forward to seeing everyone back on the water next time!
