Today, NSTA proudly welcomes Dr. Donna L. Governor as the new President of the National Science Teaching Association.

A lifelong educator, researcher, mentor, and science advocate, Dr. Governor brings more than 32 years of classroom experience spanning elementary, middle, and high school science education. From leading science learning communities to advancing innovative teaching practices, her career has been dedicated to supporting educators and inspiring curiosity in students.

Currently a Professor of Science Education at the University of North Georgia, Dr. Governor has also served NSTA in numerous leadership roles over the years, including Division Director, District Director, committee leadership, and now President.

Please join us in welcoming Dr. Governor as she begins her term leading NSTA and supporting science educators across the country.

NCBCE is now accepting applications for the 2026-27 cohort of NCBCE AI Fellows. Would you be willing to share this information with your networks?

NCBCE will select 20 exceptional middle and high school educators from around NC to serve as AI leaders and mentors for their school community. Fellows will learn ethical AI pedagogical strategies, explore the latest in technological resources, develop innovative curriculum, and enhance AI leadership skills.

Applicants may teach in any subject area within grades 6-12. Fellows will receive virtual and in-person professional development on AI throughout the academic year, ongoing support and mentorship, and a technology stipend.

The deadline to apply is May 15. Candidates will be interviewed over the summer and 20 Fellows will be selected in August. For more information or to apply, visit the NCBCE AI Fellows website.
