Feb 1, 2022 GT321 was chartered by North Wake Youth Organization - NWYO. Today we are 10 strong young ladies working on Merit Badges, checking off requirements to the next ranks, learning lots of scout and life skills, camping, traveling, laughing, growing, and all round having a great time! Happy 3rd Birthday!!!🎂

We had so much fun yesterday with NC Troop 321 at Medoc Mountain State Park!

We worked on the Wildland Fire Management Test Merit Badge. 🙂 We had members, foresters, biologists, rangers, and pilots of the North Carolina State Parks and Recreation, N.C. Forest Service, NC Forest Service Aviation, and The Longleaf Alliance come out and talk and perform demonstrations for us. 🌲🔥

For any Wood Badge past/present participants, we learned Smokey the Bear isn't the only mascot concerning wildfire prevention and education .... there's also Burner Bob the Bobwhite Quail! 🐦 The raptors of the underbrush are trying to save the underbrush!

Highlights included:
*Matchstick Forests demos to explore fire environment factors
*Laying water hose
*Dozers and fire engines
*Drone demo with aerial ignition
*Helicopter take off

Happy Thanksgiving! Be on the lookout for Beagle Scout Snoopy in the Thanksgiving parade.

This Thanksgiving, the streets of New York City will come alive with color, music, and excitement during the 2025 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Among the most anticipated highlights is the return of Beagle Scout Snoopy, the beloved Peanuts character who has become the Parade’s longest-running balloon. This year, Snoopy floats alongside his trusty sidekick Woodstock, bringing a sense of adventure and nostalgia to fans of all ages.

The Beagle Scout Snoopy balloon is truly a spectacle. Standing 55 feet tall, it reaches the height of a five-story building, stretches 42 feet long (equivalent to six bicycles) and spans 34 feet wide, about the length of five New York City taxi cabs. Its iconic oversized hat is a playful detail that measures as long as 17 beagles lined up end to end.

Occoneechee Council is hosting a Peer-to-Peer Recruiting Event from now until December 18.

Here are the steps to take to enter:
1. Check your snail mail! The Council mailed "Invite a Friend" cards to Scouts.
2. Identify and invite three (3) of their friends currently NOT in Scouting to your unit’s next meeting or activity by handing them a personally labeled postcard.
3. Submit the Scout's name and the name of the youth(s) they recruited to [email protected].
