"Now to one who works, wages are not reckoned as a gift but as something due." - Romans 4:4

A just reward for work includes fair wages, safe working conditions, and respect for human dignity. Those who harvest our food deserve protection from extreme heat, including access to water, rest, shade, and emergency care.

During NC Heat Stress Awareness Week, we stand with farmworkers and all outdoor workers in calling for protections that honor the value of their labor.

With deep gratitude, the North Carolina Council of Churches shares that our beloved Executive Director will retire after more than two decades of faithful and courageous leadership.

Her steady guidance has strengthened our witness for justice, deepened partnerships, and built on a legacy spanning more than 90 years. Grounded in unity and a commitment to peace through justice, her leadership has helped shape a more connected and courageous faith community.

Thank you for answering the call with conviction, building strength in community, and advancing a vision of peace through justice. https://ncchurches.org/2026/03/letter-to-the-council-faithful/
