New Blue We're dedicated to repairing the relationship between communities and law enforcement

Through reformed recruitment and revised training, New Blue identifies and develops a diverse coalition of leaders who shape police policy and culture through system-level leadership.

On this week of solemn remembrance, we honor the life of . His untimely death was more than a tragedy; it became a catalyst for change, compelling us, the staff at New Blue, to reimagine a system that requires transformation.

We firmly believe in the inherent goodness of our police officers- most are dedicated public servants who operate within a structure that doesn't fully nurture their potential, or the community's trust. George Floyd's loss has starkly underscored the urgency for system reform.

True leadership in law enforcement extends beyond the badge; it's about embodying integrity, accountability, and superior communication skills. At New Blue, we are passionate about fostering these qualities, recognizing that true leadership is an attitude, not just a position.

Community and law enforcement should be partners, not adversaries. The essence of this partnership lies in understanding and mirroring the community's culture and diversity. George Floyd's memory fuels our drive to build this bridge of mutual respect and understanding.

We embrace innovation and relentless learning at New Blue. We continually test new strategies with a data-driven approach to revolutionize key areas of law enforcement like recruitment, community engagement, and leadership development.

As we honor George Floyd today, we're fueled by a renewed commitment to our mission. We are here to push boundaries, challenge norms, and spark meaningful reforms in law enforcement. But we can't do it alone.

Join us. Engage with this post, share it, and invite your network to be part of this essential conversation. We believe that together, we can transform law enforcement into a beacon of trust and community partnership. George Floyd's legacy is a powerful reminder of why we must succeed.

New Blue was recently admitted to the Stand Together Ventures Lab at MIT where we’ll work to push our mission even further. In partnership with MIT, Stand Together Ventures Lab is rethinking public safety through community-based alternatives.

“Protecting public safety requires partnership between community members and law enforcement. However, the current approach to policing in the United States often breaks down trust and imposes harm to people of color disproportionately. “

Often our fellowship applicants say they feel like they’re alone in their pursuit of a more equitable law enforcement system. But that’s not the case. New Blue is dedicated to creating a coalition of forward-thinking police leaders who support each other. Whether it’s asking for help leading a difficult conversation with a patrol unit or celebrating the promotion of a peer, the New Blue Fellowship exists to create connections.

Our Fellowship curriculum is designed to create a new generation of equity-minded decision-makers to reimagine the Law Enforcement system. Our Fellows learn from community members and subject area experts to build their understanding of inequity and injustice from every angle.

Several barriers prevent low-income, BIPOC, and female officers from advancing their careers in law enforcement. Education shouldn’t be one of them. After successful completion of their program, our fellows are awarded a scholarship that they can use toward past, current, or future educational expenses.
