Hey y'all! Linked above is the PRELIMINARY SCHEDULE and class descriptions for OkF this year! Keep in mind times are subject to change but this should give a good idea of what to expect. We had lots of requests for more sparring time during the day and have tried our best to honor that.

If you cannot meet this deadline and still want to come, contact us ahead of time at [email protected] and we can work with you.

Please do not message the day before asking to squeeze in, we will not be able to help you at that point. Make yourself known as early as possible!

OKTOBERFECHT 2026 - INSTRUCTOR ANNOUNCEMENT

BILL GRANDY

Bill was the former Program Director and Head Instructor of the Historical Swordsmanship program at the Virginia Academy of Fencing, where he taught professionally for 20 years. His focuses were the various German Liechtenauer weapons (longsword, messer, armor, etc) and 16th-17th century Italian fencing, from halberd to rapier; he has been invited all over the world to teach. He has recently retired to focus on family, but he still trains and teaches for fun with Capitol Kunst des Fechtens in the DC area.

OKTOBERFECHT 2026 - INSTRUCTOR ANNOUNCEMENT

Instructor: Jake Pendergraft

Jake is a co-founder of Athens School of Arms in Athens, Georgia, and is the lead instructor for single-handed weapons. His group lessons primarily focus on Italian rapier, saber, and Bolognese sword and buckler. Jake’s instructional background is in classical Italian fencing, beginning with his attendance of the Rapier and Saber Pedagogy Retreat (RASP). Jake competes regularly in both HEMA and the SCA, and was recognized with the SCA’s highest fencing award in 2025.

Hello fellow HEMAists!

**Oktoberfecht registration is live! **

This year it will run from Thurs Oct 8th – Sunday Oct 11th at Camp Royall

Instructors and the schedule will be announced in the coming weeks.

One big change for this year is that the melee is on a temporary hiatus; the team is hard at work putting together something special to hold us over while it is refreshed, but we want to make folk aware.

Information on volunteering and the like will be launched in the next few days.

RALEIGH OPEN 2026 is almost upon us, and here is all the information you need, which registered fighters and volunteers will have received in an email. If you didn't, check your spam filters!

SCHEDULE:

Friday:
5PM: Staff arrive/Set Up
5:30 PM: Directors/Judge review, Fighter check-in begins.
6 PM: Saber Gear Check
7 - 10:30 PM: Saber Tournament
10:30 - 11:45 PM: Free Sparring

Saturday:
8 AM: Staff arrive, Director/judge review
8:30 AM: Fighter Check-in begins, Tier B Gear Check
9:30 AM - 12:30 PM: Tier B Longsword
12:30 - 1 PM: Lunch, Rookie Gear check
1:30 - 5:00: Rookie Longsword, Tier A Gear check begins at 4 PM
5:15 - 8:00 PM: Tier A Longsword

Sunday:
8:30 AM: Staff Arrive/Set Up
9 AM: Fighter Check-in, Director/Judge review
9:30 AM: Gear Check Sidesword
10:30 AM - 2 PM: Sidesword Tournament
2 -3 PM: Lunch
3 PM: Partisan Gear Check
3:30 - 6:30 PM Partisan Tournament
6:30 - 7:30 PM: Clean up

RALEIGH OPEN 2026 - UPDATE:

We're 10 days out from registration closing, that certainly went fast!

Rookie Longsword only has a few spots left, while Tier A and B Longsword still have ample availability.

Sabre/Broadsword has plenty of room as well!

Get your registrations in by the 31st!
