This is so true! It will be 6 years November 1, 2026! I do have peace and it still does affect me but I recognize how now!

I am beginning to want parts of the life back I let go before this happened! Parts I couldn’t face with what I was going through! I want back what was stolen from me because of grief! I want a full life, I want to remember the good memories before addiction took Michael’s life!

That’s where I am today!

I can feel the healing and it has everything to do with God! I reached out to Him daily and He answered me day by day and He still is! I am in a good place! Is it gone, no and it is part of my life now, I accept that! I can go forward and build my life back! God is so good!!
Love, Michael’s mama

From another mother:
Six years…
I once thought grief would always feel as raw as the day I lost my son. And while the love and longing have never left me, somehow, over time, something else has found its way into my heart….peace.
Is it God? Is it my son? Maybe it’s both. I don’t really know.
What I do know is that six years later, I am not moving on without him. I am moving forward with him, just in an entirely different way.
He is still part of me. Still in my heart, my thoughts, my life and my soul. The grief is still there, but it no longer comes alone. Now, somehow, there is peace beside it.
Perhaps that is God’s grace, teaching my heart how to carry both an everlasting love and an unbearable loss.
Thank you, dear Lord, for carrying me when I could not carry myself, and for giving my heart peace without ever asking it to let go 🙏

Michael always said “I will never go to rehab!” And he never did. Michael was very active to say the least since birth! He always had to have something to do! He loved being around people and he loved having fun! He got bored very easy!

I understood what he meant by not wanting to go to a place away from that! But just because he didn’t go to rehab, it didn’t mean he didn’t try to get clean! And he did many times!

I think the problem that addicts have we have really not found a better way! They are told the only way to get clean is rehab!

Now I think that ANYTHING they try is a step in the right direction! I have known addicts to just lay it down and wake up every morning making that decision ! And it worked!

The key is try hard at anything that takes you to getting clean and a new life!! ! Just keep trying, start again!!!

Everybody’s journey is different!

I love you my beautiful Michael and I miss the fun times!❤️

To the parent who has cried yourself to sleep...

To the mom or dad who wonders if your son or daughter will ever come home...

To the parent who feels exhausted from praying the same prayers over and over...

This is for you.

Addiction doesn't just affect the person struggling. It impacts the entire family. We know the sleepless nights, the broken trust, the phone calls that fill you with fear, and the feeling of watching someone you love slowly disappear.

But don't stop believing.

We've seen sons and daughters come home.
We've seen broken relationships restored.
We've seen families reunited.
We've seen what many thought was impossible become reality through the power of Jesus Christ.

No matter how long the road has been, your prayers matter. Your love matters. Your faithfulness matters.

This Parent Appreciation Day, we want every parent of someone battling addiction to know one thing:

There is hope.

Keep praying.
Keep believing.
Keep trusting God.

Your child's story is not over.

"Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer." Romans 12:12

If your family is walking through addiction today, know that you are not alone. We are praying for you, and we believe God is still restoring lives, restoring families, and restoring communities.
