Rainier Community Garden

The Rainier Community Garden is a project developed by Rainier High School Agriculture Educator Angie Karnes and her Environmental Science students. W.

It will continue to grow with our support. Founded in 2011. The Rainier Community Garden grows fresh vegetables together as a collective group and donates a portion to the local food bank. IMPACTING LOCAL HUNGER:
Since 2011, the Rainier Community Garden has been serving locally to those in need and who desire a healthy choice. The Garden was developed by Rainier High School Agriculture Educator An

gie Karnes and her Environmental Science students. Over 150 community volunteers, 220 students and 33 donors have helped this project grow.

39 raised beds have been built! In 2015, we harvested broccoli, cauliflower, swiss chard, kale, beets, lettuce, peas, beans, radishes, herbs, garlic, onions, cabbage, brussels sprouts, mustard greens, potatoes, carrots, spinach, tomatoes, strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries. There's also an orchard with 30 fruit trees: 18 cherry and 12 apple, plum, pear and peach. Since 2011, we harvested over 7,694 pounds of food and donated over 5,930 pounds to the Rainier Food Bank. In 2015, we harvested over 2,942 pounds of food and donated over 2,141 pounds to the Rainier Food Bank. There is more work needed in making this small project create a big impact on lives throughout the county. LEARNING:

2017 Work Parties:
As we begin to prepare for the new season,
we'll announce occasional work parties. Regular Saturday morning Work Parties will begin in mid June. Learn while working together in the garden building, cleaning, weeding, seeding, planting, watering & harvesting.
**Bring water, hat, rain gear, gloves, gardening tools if you have them and any snacks you might need. New participants are welcome! We appreciate donations for garden and building materials. JOIN OUR MAILING LIST:

Thank you to all of our Rainier Community Garden Volunteers. We had a very successful 2025 with just over 2800 lbs. of produce going out into our community. Thanks to Valley Heart for taking most of our produce and getting it to those in our community that really need it. Rainier is a great place to live and raise families.

Mark Your Calendars!!! This Saturday, at Rainier High School, Rainier FFA is hosting our annual Holiday Bazaar. We have lots of vendors, including school groups and community vendors. The doors are open from 10 - 4 and it is FREE!!! There will be a food truck at the main entrance and Santa will be here from 2 - 4pm for photos (Bring your own phone/camera) and take as many as you want. Thanks for supporting Rainier FFA and our community!

Rainier FFA is hosting our annual Holiday Bazaar again this year on December 6th, 2025 from 10 am - 4 pm. Are you looking for a bazaar to sell your items? Click the link before to sign-up for this amazing opportunity. Last year we had 43 tables full of a wide assortment of Holiday favorites. Many of the HS clubs will also be selling baked goods, personalized ornaments, floral wreaths and centerpieces, cutting boards and metal projects to name a few. Not a crafty person? Please mark your calendars and stop by for a fun filled day and take home some gifts and goodies.

Last Chance Plant Sale for the Rainier High School 2025 school year is tomorrow, May 14th from 3:30 to 7:30 at the HS greenhouse. We still have some perennials, hanging baskets, annuals and limited veggies.

Our greenhouse is exploding with amazing colors and variety of plants. Our sale is this Thursday and Friday 3:30 - 7:00 and Saturday 10:00 - 3:00. Come by and support the Rainier High School FFA Plant Sale. This kids have worked really hard and are excited to help you out!

The Rainier FFA Plant sale is coming soon! The students have been working hard and our greenhouses are overflowing with beautiful plants. You won't see flowers because we have been pinching them off so they will do more branching and have more beautiful flowers all season long. We are carrying even more perennials and even tried some bare root stock this year. Looking forward to seeing you for either plant pick up or in person shopping!

Rainier High School Floral is open for Special Valentine's Day orders. We deliver to all the school buildings but outside orders need to be picked up. Currently we have Feb 14th off as a snow make-up day, so we are planning for Feb 13th as delivery day. If we have a snow day between now and then, we will move it to Feb 14th.
