Vittles for Vets - Radford VA

Vittles for Vets - Radford VA We're a 501c3 dedicated to providing grocery gift cards to at-risk, impoverished Veterans in the NRV. That is where the "catch 22" comes into play.

As of June 1, 2022, the Vittles for Vets charity is servicing one hundred forty veterans and their families assisting to their food and nutritional needs. Although the number may seem small in comparison to the total number of veterans living in poverty, the annual cost, per veteran per year is $2600.00, successfully provide weekly gift cards. For a small charity like Vittles, it is an ambitious g

oal indeed, but I refuse to turn any qualified veteran away. I want to provide this service to as many veterans as possible, but in order to be successful and grow the Vittles charity is totally dependent on the kindness and generosity of the COMMUNITY as a whole. It is only through your generosity this charity will be able to provide and grow. So this charity called "Vittles for Vets" is really YOUR charity and I am nothing more than a facilitator, distributing to our needy veterans the fruits of your kindness and generosity from a grateful American. Please support this most worthy of charities with a donation in any amount. I thank you, your veterans thank you and God bless you.

It's not too late to put a team in our tournament on Thursday! The weather is expected to be beautiful and we'd love to see you on the course!

Monday, our Executive Director visited WDBJ7 and spoke with Melissa Gaona and Logan Sherrill during the 7@Four segment to discuss the tournament.

We've been extremely fortunate to have our Board Secretary and volunteer, Sonya Edens , reaching out to community members to garner interest for the tournament. Sonya has been instrumental in selling teams and sponsorships and we couldn't have made this tournament happen without her!

It’s scheduled for this Thursday, April 23, at the Auburn Hills Golf Club in Riner.

Last month, our Director, January Gerow, attended the Kiwanis Club of Roanoke's monthly luncheon where she learned about all the exciting improvements coming to the I-81 corridor from the speaker's presentation. Member Bob Habermann was our sponsor, and presented Vittles for Vets with a $600 grant! This grant will go towards providing Easter Dinner gift cards to Roanoke and Salem veterans enrolled in the Vittles for Vets program!

Thank you to Bob for his sponsorship and to the Kiwanis Club of Roanoke for providing us with this grant opportunity!

Vittles for Vets extends wishes for a happy, healthy, safe, and peaceful New Year to all. We are grateful to the Lord Almighty and to you, our benefactors, for blessing this humble little charity with the means necessary to provide our less fortunate defenders of freedom the gift of life-sustaining healthy food selections.
As we enter our 12th year of operation, we are proud to announce that, through your generosity, we have distributed more than $900,000 in grocery gift cards to our at-risk veteran neighbors.
May God continue to bless us with success and the ability, through your support, to continue our most worthy and necessary mission.
God bless you all and Happy New Year!

January Gerow - Exec. Director/ President

We've had tremendous support from Northrop Grumman in Radford over the last few years. Each year, Northrop Grumman gifts a turkey to each employee for Thanksgiving, and passes along any leftover turkeys to Vittles to share with our veterans. Last week, they donated 30 frozen turkeys to our veterans! Employees have gotten wind that we're passing along the extras to our veterans in need, and over 20 employees donated their turkeys to help out!

Our volunteers, Sonya Edens, Stephanie Carroll, Founder Bill McCann, Sandra Chaplow McCann and Director January Gerow travelled to Salem, Roanoke, Narrows, Dublin, Christiansburg and Radford to distribute turkeys. Our veterans who weren't camera shy let us snap some pics. Everyone was so grateful to Northrop Grumman and their employees for sharing their blessings.

We wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving!

We are fortunate that we're able to assist struggling veterans in our region thanks to the support of our friends and neighbors. On this Veterans Day, we thank all the men and women who have served our nation.

"Some people live an entire lifetime and wonder if they have ever made a difference in the world. A Veteran doesn't have that problem." β€” Ronald Reagan
