Thank you to New River Valley Regional Jail for donating over 1500 pounds of non-perishable items to our food distribution program! Each holiday season, different departments compete to creatively decorate their doors AND raise food for folks struggling with food insecurity. What an incredible success!

The holidays can be a hard time for our neighbors who are food insecure, but the cold months that follow are equally challenging. 1500 pounds of food means we were able to distribute items during December and well beyond into the new year!

We ❤️ our volunteers!

If you’ve been around on a Tuesday, chances are you’ve seen Pam restocking our “extras” crate with allllll the goodies. Our volunteers do everything from greeting clients and setting out boxes to leading partner pick-ups, processing donations, and assembling healthy kids snack packs. We couldn’t do it without them!

Whatever your talents, skills, and interests, our volunteer program has positions that are fulfilling for volunteers and meaningful to our community. Reach out to Andrea at

Happy Holidays!

Beans & Rice will take our annual holiday break in the upcoming weeks. A couple things to know:

🌱 We are still accepting year-end donations! If you are interested in giving before 2025, visit www.beansandrice.org

🌱 Food Distribution at our Radford office will resume on Tuesday, January 7th. Appointment times for that distribution will be made available as usual on Friday, January 3rd at noon.

🌱 If you have an urgent issue, please call 540-980-4111 and we will connect with you as soon as possible. For non-urgent issues, please email Andrea [email protected]

Holiday Bags Packed! ✅✅✅

A huge thank you to Blacksburg Young Professionals for donating non-perishable items and packing bags to make sure families in the NRV have food security during this season!

We also want to shout out another fantastic organization, SOTA at RU, for donating additional food items so the holiday bags could be complete!
