We are sending our thoughts and prayers to our neighboring department and also Meredith’s family and friend’s as they go through this difficult time.
It is with profound grief and sadness that Pulaski County Public Safety is sharing the news that we have lost EMT-I Meredith Lee Smith to her courageous battle with cancer.
Meredith joined Pulaski County, VA in May, 2021 as an Emergency Medical Technician – Intermediate, after serving for many years with other localities providing emergency medical care to numerous communities.
Meredith brought her passion for helping others to every shift she worked serving the citizens of Pulaski County. She has been recognized for her efforts to go above and beyond the normal expectations of an EMS provider on numerous occasions.
After battling and repeatedly beating the odds against a rare and aggressive form of cancer over the past few years, EMT-I Meredith Lee Smith has now answered her last call.
To Meredith: Thank you for your service, dedication, compassion, and contributions to the health and welfare of Pulaski County. May you enjoy the eternal peace and happiness that are so well deserved following your lifetime of service to those in need. Your impact on this world, and especially our local community, will continue to reverberate long beyond the time you shared with us. Your legacy will live on through your family, all of those you mentored and modeled your professional skills to, and through those who experienced your outstanding example of selfless service over many years. We are forever grateful for your life, your service to Pulaski County, VA, and the trail of kindness and love you have left in your wake.
We ask for your prayers for Meredith, her husband and children, family, and with her many friends and coworkers as her spirit makes its way to a final resting place of well-earned peace and tranquility.
