Hardin County Branch NAACP
The recent dismissal of charges in the Breonna Taylor case is more than a legal decision — it is a painful reminder of how far we still have to go in the fight for justice.
A federal judge has dismissed, with prejudice, the charges against former LMPD officers Kyle Meany and Joshua Jaynes — the very individuals accused of falsifying information to obtain the warrant that led to the deadly raid on Breonna Taylor’s home. This ruling follows the DOJ’s request to drop the charges “in the interest of justice,” a phrase that rings hollow for so many in our community.
Breonna Taylor was a 26‑year‑old EMT. She was asleep in her home. She should still be here.
The NAACP Hardin County Branch joins with the NAACP Louisville Branch in their position and stance:
Justice delayed has now become justice denied.
This decision undermines public trust and signals, yet again, that accountability is optional when Black lives are taken.
But let me be equally clear — our fight does not end here.
We continue to stand with the Taylor family.
We continue to demand transparency and accountability.
We continue to push for a justice system that values every life.
