K9 Bane Hero Foundation K9 Bane was the 1st K9 for the St. Francis PD (WI). He had DM & fought for his life. On May 9, 2024, Bane traded his wheels for wings. K9 Officer (Retired)

In his honor the K9 Bane Hero Foundation supports working K9s in retirement. "Every Hero Deserves a Legacy."

Today marks a special day for me. K9 Bane's birthday. He would've been 15 today... The landmark birthday I thought he'd make when he retired. Degenerative Myelopathy had other plans.

We don't know how many birthdays we are going to see. But Bane's journey taught me that those are only numbers. Your journey in-between those numbers is what becomes your legacy!

🐾I wanted to take a moment to honor one of K9 Bane's biggest fans, Sandy, who passed away yesterday morning. My heart breaks, because Sandy was a wonderful and kind soul, who absolutely loved K9s.

She began following K9 Bane years ago and was there every step of the way during his battle with DM. She sent me weekly cards and always donated to help every K9 we brought into this Village. She had a heart of gold.

Over the last few years, I've not only grieved our K9 losses, but also supporters who have been there with me along the way. Family members reach out and tell me of their death, because they know what Bane meant to them.

When I lose Bane's friends, I grieve him again as well. Sandy, I'm blessed to have known you. There's no doubt that K9 Bane was waiting for you to say "Hello!"

Our sweet girl, K9 Keela, peacefully crossed the bridge and met her Handler-Dad, Scott, at the other side. Keela's vet located a mass and internal bleeding yesterday morning at the vet. Her mom made the difficult decision to help Keela pass surrounded by love.

K9 Keela served her community as a search and rescue and therapy K9. Scott died unexpectedly last year, and we brought K9 Keela and her family into our Village.

Please send love and hugs in honor of Keela. Rest easy sweet girl 💙

🐾Positive vibes, hugs, prayers, thoughts, and strength all needed for our sweet girl Keela! She hasn't been feeling herself the last few days and wasn't eating. We supported Keela's mom and provided suggestions that seem to be encouraging our sweet old gal to eat!

K9 Keela joined our Village when her handler-dad died unexpectedly. We're proud to honor her service and take care of this Hero and her family!

Stay strong Keela!! 💙
