In addition to the incredible volunteer efforts shared earlier today, another group of volunteers from Johnson Financial Group also spent time supporting Racine Unified Schools at The Academies of Racine at Mitchell School. The team helped inventory library books, organize and prepare combination locks, reorganize disrupted files, and sort clothing and jacket donations to make them easier for staff and students to access. Another tax season wrapped, and we’re celebrating the Racine Unified Schools The Academies of Racine Case High School VITA volunteers!

A huge congratulations to our IRS-certified student tax preparers and the amazing adult volunteers who made it all possible. The students stepped up in a big way helping local families access important refunds while gaining real-world skills, confidence and experience along the way.

Tax season might be over, but VITA support continues to be available. Our volunteers are still assisting Racine County residents with free tax filing, amended returns, Homestead Credit and IRS correspondence. GetYourRefund and DIY filing options are also available for added support.

Students from Racine Unified Schools Knapp Elementary were escorted by the Walking School Bus on a field trip to RUGN: The Racine Urban Garden Network, where they had the opportunity to explore, learn and connect with nature.
