Thursday night we had our Annual Members Meeting at the amazing CaseIH Experience Center. Our members had the chance to mingle, hear from the museum on the work we have been doing, and attend a presentation on the history of the J.I. Case company. Thank you to everyone who attended! It was a splendid evening. If you are interested in attending next year's meeting, all you need is a membership! Sign up at www.racineheritagemuseum.org/membership

The next in our series is the largest artifact included in that exhibit; a 1910 piano. Hiram J. Smith sold Racine-built pianos at his jewelry and Music Store at 437 Main Street in the early 1900’s. Even the metal component of the soundboard inside, which holds the piano strings was made in Racine.

Follow along with us as we take these long exhibited artifacts from our 'Factory for the World' exhibit and return them to storage!

*This is a PSA*📣

Please don't do this.

Yesterday an individual who wanted to support our goal of preserving historic materials dropped this box at our front door while we were closed. We found it when we opened in the morning but we aren't sure how long it was there. Here is the problem: these documents had sensitive information included and could have been taken by any individual walking by. RHM cannot be responsible for things left at our front door.

The good news is the individual contacted us later that day so we were able to find out who the person was and why they were donating.

The even better news is that we have clear instructions for people who wish to donate to us in the future! Information on making donations to RHM's collection can be found at https://www.racineheritagemuseum.org/support.

Thanks Folks! Have a great Wednesday!

Ever wonder what's been going on in the archive? Our Archivist, Liz, is working very hard to create and update these finding aids. Finding aids help you browse the materials in the Archives collection and can be very helpful if you are looking for something specific. To access the finding aid, just go to www.racineheritagemuseum.org, hover over the 'LEARN' button to engage the drop down menu and select 'RESEARCH'. We hope this tool will be a great help to the community and those who wish to do research.

Can you believe we are less than a month away from the Racine County Sports Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony? Our next featured inductee is Jeff Christensen.

Jeff Christensen was a standout athlete at Racine Lutheran High School and later became one of the state’s best boys basketball coach in Wisconsin history. His Crusaders teams won 11 conference titles and four state championships. Wow!

Did you know Racine's radio station WRJN is turning 100 years old? Yesterday we took a tour of the station and learned a lot about how radios work and the history of WRJN. We'll be using this information to make a new exhibit celebrating WRJN's 100 year. Stay tuned for more updates and details!
