Racine Dominicans Committed to Truth, Compelled to Justice Since 1862, the Racine Dominicans are a community of vowed women religious - sisters and lay associates.

They are headquartered in Racine, Wisconsin – a city on the shores of Lake Michigan south of Milwaukee. ‘Committed to truth, compelled to justice’ is the guiding principle for the Racine Dominicans including all ministries for individual sisters and community sponsored ministries. Sisters and Associates serve throughout the Americas in a wide range of vocations. Prayer, study and preaching are integral to the lives of all Racine Dominican Sisters and Associates. Through the years, the Sisters have founded and sponsored dozens of ministries, filling a variety of needs in the Wisconsin community and beyond. Many of the ministries were designed to become self-sufficient and passed on to be ministered by the lay community. Others ended as needs changed or objectives were achieved. Today, the Racine Dominicans (with a corporate title of Sisters of St. Dominic) is a 501(c)(3) organization with five sponsored ministries that are 501(c)(3) corporations. The sponsored ministries are blessed with the assistance of thousands of professionals, volunteers and donors (individual and corporate), religious and lay people whose missions align with the Racine Dominicans. The current sponsored ministries are:

Bethany Apartments
Senior Companion Program
Siena Retreat Center
HOPES Center
Eco-Justice Center

Donations to the Racine Dominicans or any of the sponsored ministries are tax deductible.

The Leadership Team of the Racine Dominican Sisters and Associates stand with the Leadership Conference of Women Religious (LCWR) in a commitment to nonviolence, the dignity of every human person, and the protection of life. We join LCWR in opposing the death penalty and livestreamed ex*****ons, and we reject violence in all its forms. Rooted in the Gospel, we believe that every human life is sacred. Even in the face of grave wrongdoing, we are called to seek justice and uphold human dignity. We must work toward a world where violence is never the answer.

We invite you to gather in prayer for victims of violence and their families, for all those facing ex*****on, and for the transformation of hearts and systems that perpetuate violence. May our shared prayer deepen our commitment to the Gospel and strengthen our witness to a world in which justice, mercy, and the dignity of every human being are upheld.

Today, we honor the history, cultures, wisdom and enduring contributions of Indigenous Peoples. We acknowledge the deep connections Indigenous communities have with the land we share, recognize the injustices they have endured and reaffirm our responsibility to listen, learn, and support Indigenous Peoples as together we work toward a more just world for all.

📚✨ 250 Sisters Who Shaped the USA: S. Suzanne Noffke, OP ✨📚

Through her dedication to historical research and scholarship, S. Suzanne Noffke, OP, became a renowned authority on St. Catherine of Siena, one of the most influential figures in Dominican history. 📖 As a member of the Sisters of St. Dominic of Racine, Wisconsin, she devoted years to studying Catherine’s writings, spirituality, and life, helping bring her wisdom and profound faith to new generations.

Her work as a historian and translator deepened understanding of St. Catherine’s contributions to the Church and the Dominican tradition. Through her scholarship, S. Suzanne helped preserve Catherine’s legacy and made her writings more accessible to readers seeking to understand her spiritual insights and enduring influence. Her work remains a lasting gift to the Dominican family and to all who continue to draw inspiration from St. Catherine’s life and teachings. 🌿

The North American Dominican Promoters of Justice, Peace and Care of Creation invite us to listen more deeply to the voices and lived experiences of those too often unheard. “Silent Voices, Big Truths” is a series of reflections exploring moments of struggle in our U.S. society and Church through the lens of Dominican values, especially Veritas—truth rooted in lived experience.

Please check out the first two editions, with more on their way!

🤲🏽✨ 250 Sisters Who Shaped the USA: S. Lois Aceto, OP ✨

A missionary and advocate for those on the margins, S. Lois Aceto, OP, served as a missionary in Bolivia and later ministered to people in prison, helping them explore and deepen their faith. 🌎

Throughout her life, S. Lois reached out to those often overlooked, offering compassion, dignity, faith, and hope to people in need. 💛

Her ministry reminds us of the Dominican call to see the dignity in every person and bring hope to those on the margins. 🌿

Martice, Amy and their kids are dear to our Racine Dominican family, and they have some volunteer opportunities on the farm in the coming week for any and all who can help!

On behalf of our family, we want to express our deep gratitude to the community that is showering us with so much love and support. This week has been a slow recovery, but Martice Scales is starting to feel a bit better every day.

This has been a week of prioritizing slowing down for Martice, which as you can imagine is a very different dynamic in the household.

I am slowly working my way through all the texts, calls, DMs, and comments and thank you all for your patience as I navigate through them.

So many of your have reached out to see when you can come and help. We have put together some smaller days/times (working on sports schedules and other commitments) when we could use volunteers. If any of these dates and times work for your schedule, shoot me a message at 262-352-0176 or comment on the post!

We can also figure out additional days and times, but these are some of the dates that many have asked to come out already and volunteer.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for showering us with so much love and care. We are overwhelmed with gratitude. A special thank you to Sam, Stephen and Les for helping us with a huge project on Tuesday and thank you to Peggy and Cliff for your nourishment this week!

Edited to add:

Please bring a bag lunch (if coming during a meal time) and reusable water bottle. We have lots of snacks and water refills!

Also dress in layers and wear boots or farm shoes and if you have gloves bring those along.

Our farm address is w4747 county road me water Wi.

🐈‍⬛ If you’ve spent any time at the Eco-J, chances are you’ve met Vader.

He’s been part of the farm family for a very long time, and apparently his latest role is farm stand supervisor. 😂🌿 He’s keeping a close eye on the produce, flowers, and eggs to make sure everything is up to his standards.

Come visit Vader (if he’s feeling social) and check out the farm stand this Saturday from 9 AM–2 PM!

🌿 Fresh produce & flowers
🥚 Farm-fresh eggs — $5/dozen
🏡 Check the front yard and farmhouse porch—the stand will be set up in one of those spots depending on the weather.

Come for the fall farm visit, stay for Vader’s inspection. 🐈‍⬛🍂💛
