It has been brought to our attention that the K/D tournament has changed dates for 2027. I appreciate the feedback and disappoiuntment from many anglers, but this is not a decision Salmon-A-Rama makes nor has input in. The K/D has always been promoted, and entries encouraged by our Organization as the two events offered something for everyone, and made a great side dish for which ever event you initially enjoyed.
We again have no say, nor did we have any communications on these happenings. I will not guess why the change, or speculate as each event has to do whats in the best interest for the Community, Event, and the Anglers. It may sometimes seem logical to coincide with each other, but sometimes things just need to be adjusted for the time periods in which fishing is strong in each area for the guests participating.
Salmon-A-Rama has only adjusted dates once in over 50 years, and that was due to a remote site that needed tent and porta potties which was not viable with 2 days turn around from 4th Holiday weekend. With that said its not our goal to chase an event, or inconvenience those who already applied for vacation, booked charters, or reserved places to stay. Salmon-A-Rama will again be July 10th-July 18th.
I know some have asked that we be contacted to change our dates, but again this was not our decision to change anything, but keep a 50 year tradition left as is. I again will say this is not SAR changing anything, and does not have anything to do with us, as these are seperate events with seperate leadership. I will never sway away from wishing the best of luck to any event on Lake Michigan and hope each event and community is properous from the efforts all put into making these events as fun as possible.
Congratulations to all the winners in the 2026 Derbies, and again support the clubs that make these events possible, and most have room for additional volunteers if you want to have input. Thank You!!!!!!!!!!! This was an informative update, and negative responses to the changes will not be tolerated.
