Kilties Drum and Bugle Corps

Kilties Drum and Bugle Corps Philosophy:

The Kilties Drum and Bugle Corps exists for the benefit of the participants.

The program is structured so that it fulfills the desires of those that choose to be an active part of it. The two major goals of the organization can be broken down to the following:

1) Creating a positive environment that promotes character and social development, encourages a deep sense of camaraderie within the group and presents a positive image to all outside the group that come into contac

t with it.
2) Establishing a system that allows for achievement and performance excellence through an exciting, entertaining program design produced in an efficient manner and within the time frame of an all-age corps.

There seems to be some confusion about what the Kilties are up to these days.

To adjust to these times and remain true to our WWBD moto, we have chosen to pivot instead of folding. Kilties now have 3 entities that participate in parades, stand still events, flag raising, etc. alone and/or together.

These groups are all known as Mad Plaid. With Richie Hinderholtz as the director, they consist of the horn line, drum line and honor guard. For the last few years the drum line and honor guard have graced the Racine Memorial Day parade while the horn line and honor guard have participated in numerous parades in and around SE Wisconsin and northern Illinois.

The horn line rides on a flat bed trailer, which they own, and is towed by the Kiltie van. (Thank you to Jay Buhrow, John Martinoff, Jeff Troudt and Nik Makaroff for all the hard work.) The trailer is 32' long and big enough to accommodate more than just a horn line - which means expanding that group is a real possibility.

I hope this clears the air a little bit and if you have any questions or are interested in joining, please let us know in the comment section below.
