I AM going to look into this, because it's a real concern. But I will do some research first, before I just click the link. I've also been talking with Parrot Caretaker Network and the local police (and Animal Control) to make sure folks who live alone with pets are looked after to protect their animals!
Today we have an emergency transport heading to Ohio to assist a municipality we haven’t worked with before.
Three parrots were found in the home of a deceased owner after he failed to show up for work. Thankfully, he hadn’t been gone long. His employer became concerned and requested a welfare check, which is what ultimately led to the birds being found.
The reason I’m telling you this is because this situation could have ended very differently.
If you live alone, have medical issues, travel frequently, or simply don’t have someone who checks on you every day, please make a plan.
Your animals don’t know you’ve had a medical emergency. They only know dinner never came.
