It was a busy and rewarding few days for our Kiwanis Club!

At our weekly meeting, we had the pleasure of hearing from Karen Fields, who works closely with NASA and the U.S. space program. Her presentation was fascinating, and she shared some incredible insights into the exciting work being done in space exploration. Thank you, Karen, for such an informative and inspiring program and thank you Ginger for inviting her.

Keith gave us a sneak peek of one of the Broadway songs that he will be singing the next two weekends in Winnsboro.

Then on Saturday morning, despite the wet and soggy conditions, several of our members enjoyed helping with the Wood County Sheriff's KidFish event at Lake Fork. The smiles, excitement, and memories made by the kids were well worth a little rain and mud. We are always grateful for opportunities to support events that make a positive impact on the young people in our community.

Proud to have Ms. Hanson as an active member of our club!

Please help us with congratulating our May Employee of the Month, Ms. Hanson. She is such a strong person who has the biggest heart for her students. She hasn’t complained once as she has battled through cancer, and has continued to perservere through this situation by showing up for her students.

"She has battled an illness, and still showed up for her kids! She always puts kids first!"

Our Kiwanis Club had another wonderful and inspiring meeting today! We were honored to welcome our two Wood County Extension Agents along with three impressive 4-H students who shared about their experiences in 4-H.

The students spoke about the leadership skills, responsibility, friendships, and opportunities they have gained through their involvement. It was exciting to hear firsthand how 4-H is helping shape the next generation of leaders in our community.

Thank you to our guests for taking the time to visit with us and for all you do to support the youth of Wood County. We truly enjoyed learning more about the impact of the 4-H program!

What a wonderful opening day at the City Pool. All that came enjoyed a free day of swimming, hot dogs, chips, and a drink.

Another busy but productive week is in the books. We held our last SLP end of year party at Yantis ISD. We held a pizza party and drew for prizes for all the 5th graders who participated in the BUG (Bringing up Grades) program.

We held our weekly meeting and Fusion In The Woods Catering chef/owner Chef Tyler Brown prepared a great lunch and told us about how he got interested in cooking, his experiences living overseas and learning from master Chefs, and the different types of restaurants he learned from. He then opened it up to questions and they ranged from how to cook a roast to what is your favorite dish to order when you go out. Thank you Tyler for a very informative conversation.

Tonight, 9 of our members met in Tyler for a division council meeting with 6 other Kiwanis clubs. It’s always a great evening sharing a wonderful meal, visiting with friends, and sharing ideas, experiences, and success stories. We also were visited by the CKI President from UT Tyler.

The last bit of business was to formally elect our Lt. Governor for Division 34 for the term beginning October 1. Dianne Robinson from Holly Lake will be our incoming Lt. Governor. We then elected our Lt. Governor Elect for 2027-2028 which is our own Pam Bowdoin. Congratulations to both ladies!!
