The International Convention may be over, but the spirit of Kiwanis is stronger than ever! We are heading home with wonderful memories, inspiring ideas, new friendships from around the world, and renewed enthusiasm for serving our community and improving the lives of children.

We look forward to sharing what we’ve learned and bringing that energy back to our club and district. But first, we’re taking a little time to explore the island, enjoy the fellowship, and make a few more memories together—because service and friendship are what Kiwanis is all about!

The Queen herself is hard at work flipping pancakes 🥞 🫐 🥞 at the Nacogdoches Blueberry Festival for the Nacogdoches Kiwanis Club. Sherry Dupre currently serves at the Kiwanis Trustee for the Piney Woods Region.

If you are looking for a fun event to attend and help out a great cause look no further than Nacogdoches this Saturday.

The Kiwanis club of Nacogdoches will be holding the 2nd annual Doyle Alexander Blueberry Pancake Breakfast at the 25th annual Nacogdoches Blueberry Festival this Saturday. Pancakes will be flying hot off the grill beginning at 7:00 am. Serving will continue until 11:00 am. The price for a stack is $7.00 or $7.25 for credit card. As in past years, we have guest chefs joining our crew. We are expecting local officials from the city and county, SFASU faculty, and coaches. This year, we are excited to welcome the Governor of the TX-OK Kiwanis District, John Cano from the Austin Kiwanis Club as well as the Kiwanis Trustee of Region 7, Sherry Dupre from the Quitman/Lake Fork Club to help prepare and serve pancakes. In addition, the President of the Kiwanis Club of Lufkin, Judith McDonald and fellow members of her club, as they have in the past, will serve our community and visitors at the festival. Additional service club volunteers will include the Nacogdoches High Schol Key Club, National Honor Society, and BSA Girls Troop 2025, among others.

The Doyle Alexander Annual Pancake Breakfast sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Nacogdoches held in conjunction with the Nacogdoches Blueberry Festival raises funds to support community needs and the Nacogdoches High Key Club. The Nacogdoches Key Club is more than 100 strong. The Nacogdoches Kiwanis Club provides several scholarships for Key Club seniors each year. Our scholarship committee chair, Wendy Buchanan, works with the committee to identify outstanding future leaders who apply that are involved in service to the community and leadership for scholarships. Key Club is the largest civic club organization in the world. The TX-OK District has more than 17,000 members. Come on out to enjoy our famous blueberry pancakes, support scholarships for young leaders and have fun at one of the most hospitable and family-oriented events of the Texas year!

It was a busy and rewarding few days for our Kiwanis Club!

At our weekly meeting, we had the pleasure of hearing from Karen Fields, who works closely with NASA and the U.S. space program. Her presentation was fascinating, and she shared some incredible insights into the exciting work being done in space exploration. Thank you, Karen, for such an informative and inspiring program and thank you Ginger for inviting her.

Keith gave us a sneak peek of one of the Broadway songs that he will be singing the next two weekends in Winnsboro.

Then on Saturday morning, despite the wet and soggy conditions, several of our members enjoyed helping with the Wood County Sheriff's KidFish event at Lake Fork. The smiles, excitement, and memories made by the kids were well worth a little rain and mud. We are always grateful for opportunities to support events that make a positive impact on the young people in our community.

Proud to have Ms. Hanson as an active member of our club!

Please help us with congratulating our May Employee of the Month, Ms. Hanson. She is such a strong person who has the biggest heart for her students. She hasn’t complained once as she has battled through cancer, and has continued to perservere through this situation by showing up for her students.
