Today, we remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost on September 11, 2001, and honor the countless heroes who ran toward danger to help others.

We remember the firefighters, police officers, first responders, military members, and ordinary citizens who demonstrated extraordinary courage.

We will never forget.

Let us honor their memory not only by remembering, but by serving our communities and one another.

Today marks the anniversary of D-Day, June 6, 1944, when Allied forces launched the largest amphibious invasion in history on the beaches of Normandy, France. More than 156,000 American, British, and Canadian troops stormed the heavily fortified coastline in a pivotal operation that helped turn the tide of World War II.

On this day, we honor the courage, sacrifice, and determination of the men who faced overwhelming odds in the fight for freedom. Their bravery changed the course of history and secured liberties that continue to be cherished today.

We remember those who gave their lives and thank all who served. Lest we forget.
